Have they stopped working on the e-lodged 175, post 1 September - seen as there hasn't been any movement for the last couple of weeks

talk about teasing us - first they let us think it is fast-tracked and then suddenly they grab it away ... really nasty

My husband said that it was mentioned on one of the other Ex pat forums that the internet applications were intially being assessed so quickly because they were testing the system out. Apparently now, they are going to be processed in line with the paper applications - ie, no more fast-tracking. I have no idea if this is all just rumour though.

Hi Gizmo

I hope it is a rumor!! But I know on the BE forum people are getting visas and CO's so I don't know how true that is. Their meds are being finalized regularly too. Once your application is lodged you are actually told to submit your PCC's withing 28 days on your PDF form 47P. So they have to change that or carry on processing them I guess.

It probably all started because things seem to be standing still at the moment. I WISH we could have submitted our application online, but because we applied with my husband as the main applicant, out process has ended up being quite complicated. He studied in Germany, so all his documents and degrees had to be professionally translated etc etc

I hope they hurry up with the paper applications - had we realized it was going to take about a year, we would rather have gone with a Southern States sponsorship which would have cut our wait in half!!!

Oh, well, hindsight is 20/20 vision I guess... :D

I have been considering whether I should attempt a 457 visa, in order to cut down on the lead time (as opposed to the 175) & put the question to my agent

He is still of the opinion that the processing time on a 175 will not be that much longer than a 457 and indicated that it would be a wasted effort

I hope that he has some insider-info, because, from the allocation of CO dates, it seems they have stopped processing the 175's

Does anybody have contact with the aus immigration, in order to ask them directly?

cheers

Jan

  • 4 weeks later...

Here is the last e-mail from ASPC on processing times.

It confirms that all of us that submitted before Sept 07 contributed to the increased volume and subsequent delay in processing of 136s.

Processing times: Update 18 Dec 07

Next e-mail update: 8 Jan 08

"News

Information on skilled migration is available from the Department's website

at http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-ski...ation/index.htm

Please note that the Department including this office will be closed from

25 to 27 December 2007 and on 1 January 2008, consequently the next update

of this email will be published on 8 January 2008.

The Department put into operation major reforms to the General Skilled

Migration (GSM) programme with effect from 1 September 2007. Prior to the

introduction of these changes there was a significant increase in the

volume of applications received by the department. The surge in

applications resulted in delays in getting all of these applications

receipted and acknowledged. All applications lodged prior to 1 September

2007 have now been processed and receipted. While every effort is being

made to acknowledge these applications as quickly as possible there will be

a delay before a full acknowledgement is made.

Communicating with this office

Information on making telephone or email enquiries to the ASPC is located

at http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/visa-enqui...ofessionals.htm

This system has been established to provide consistent and efficient

responses to email enquiries and you are requested not to send enquiries to

individual departmental officers regarding an application unless

specifically requested to do so.

Please note that the departmental officers who email out the

acknowledgement letters are not able to respond to enquiries sent to their

individual email addresses.

RECEIPTING AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF APPLICATIONS

The ASPC has changed the method of receipting and acknowledging

applications to improve the service provided to clients.

Once an application has been receipted it will undergo validity checking.

An acknowledgement letter with a client reference number and receipt will

be sent following lodgement if the application is valid and at this stage

you will be also be advised of your file number.

The Admin team may send evidence of receipt of payment ahead of the

acknowledgement process where e-mail communication has been authorised.

Applicants or their authorised representatives will receive acknowledgement

that the department has received their documents and receipted the relevant

visa application charge.

If an application is determined to be invalid documents will be returned

and a refund of the visa application charge arranged.

As of 18 December 2007 the ASPC Admin Section is processing applications as

follows:

Onshore Applications: receipting and acknowledging applications received on

17 December 2007.

Offshore Applications received after 1 September 2007: receipting and

acknowledging applications received on 17 December 2007.

Offshore Applications received prior to 1 September 2007:

All applications with a valid payment have now been receipted. The ASPC

is acknowledging applications received on 1 August 2007.

Please note that any delay in acknowledging an application does not affect

the date on which a valid application is recorded as having been received

and does not delay processing of the application.

Once an application has been acknowledged it will be allocated to a case

officer for further assessment as soon as possible, however, the ASPC

receives a large number of applications and you will not be contacted

immediately.

Hey there

The time issue seems to be something we are all worried about. Nobody can give a real answer though. We are applying through the 136 visa and our application was received on 2 July 2007. So according to the aspc.processing@immi.gov.au e-mail response, we should still be waiting a good 6 months before we are allocated a case officer. BUT - on 13 December we received a response that we had a case officer and they were requesting our medicals and police clearances. Our migration agent says that it normally takes about 2 months after they have received these before you get the visa. So then we will have our visas hopefully before the site says they are even processing?

I have learnt to not worry about all these times they say and just hope and pray by some sort of luck that your application finds itself in the right hands and the wait is not too long! :holy:

With you on that one, I get the impression that the date given on the processing times is the tail end of the visa applications. It would be interesting to see this week what the new dates are though - being updated on the 8th for the first time in about a month!

I did an online application for VE 175 on 5 November 07, did Meds on 22 Nov and they were finalized on 6 Dec 07. PCC was in on 5 Dec 07.

So all that's left to do is wait!

Hi Maria

We did our application on the 25th October and still no news. I know Pippa applied on the 17th Oct and has her visa. So hopefully with the next week people will be back from leave and visas will get issued!!!!

Happy waiting for all of us........ :):D:whome:

Although the ASPC's mid-Dec 07 e-mail reply stated that the next update will on 8 Jan 08, we are still receiving the same response daily, being:

"As of 18 December 2007 the ASPC Admin Section is processing applications as

follows:......."

We all hope by next Tuesday 15 Jan 08 that there'll be a new update / reply.

The fact that some forum members reported receiving COs and approvals during the past 3 weeks at least shows that there is movement.

I agree MM, it does seem to be moving, but there doesn't seem to be any consistent sequence.

Some people applying under the same visa(136MODL) that applied in July 2007 already have a CO and other that applied in April 2007 are still waiting.

Guest Bronwyn

Hi guys

I am making an enquiry on behalf of my sister in law.

She is an accountant (CFA) in England and has applied to have her skills assessed to come to Aus. She was told she had to pass one more exam, and so she wrote it and passed mid-2007.

She then sumbitted her skills assessment and it was approved. They submitted their visa application (I think it's a 136 MODL application) in September, and paid their fees of $2060 (I think).

She is not active on the forum and so I said I would try and find out whether anyone has any idea of what timeline they can expect. We are here on a business Visa and so the process was totally different and I am not familiar with the 136.

If anyone would mind helping out, please advise:-

1) When can they expect to receive a CO?

2) When can they expect to receive their Visa? :ilikeit:

3) Their police clearances from South Africa have expired, but since they have not been back to South Africa since they were issued, they want to know whether it will be necessary to redo them? Obviously they could not have committed any crimes in SA if they are in England :ilikeit:

4) Will it be helpfull to frontload the meds or should they just wait? They will have to go in England as that is where they have lived for 6 years.

Their son is turning 4 in a few months and he is supposed to start school in England but they are holding him back so he can rather start in Australia next year.

Any and all info would be most welcome.

Thank you

Bronwyn

I think it is quite difficult to determine the date of CO or Visa at this stage on the 175 applications. (Had to be a 175 as the application was in Sept). People at first seemd to get a CO quickly, but it is possible that they were only testing the system. With all the allocations of CO's during the past month, I get the impression they are trying to get the old 136 applications out of the way. (I hope :P )

They will have to get a new PCC. According to the Immi site you have to submit a PCC for each country where you lived for more than 12 months in the last 10 years.

On the medicals well I guess they will have to watch the weekly mail or how others are allocated CO's.

Like you know, mostly this is a guessing game. :(
