PR visa Processing Times

Recommended Posts

Ok I am confused…

I admit it does not take much but can somebody please explain this to me…!!!

I applied in Jan 2007, I got my acknowledgement from them on 1 March 2007

I applied for a skilled independent 136 MODL application (boy that’s a mouthful…)

Ok here is my question…

When will my application get a case officer…

But before you answer here is what confuses me…

I have about 3 different sources that I am watching.

If you look at the eMail that gets generated, (aspc.processing@immi.gov.au ) is a very generic timeline, and does not cater for different countries…

Yup it seems that different counties have different processing times… ( go figure…)

There is a forum in the UK that seems to move about twice as fast as ours…

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread....=372673&page=83

It seems that PR 136 MODL cases from the UK take about 3 months from application thru receipt to meds and PCC requested from CO to Visa Grant and buying plane tickets…

There is a forum running out of India, ( sorry I can’t find the URL now) but it seems that applications from there take about a year or more to process…

Then there is South Africa with this forum… is seems to me and I could be wrong that it takes about 150 days from application date to CO assignment and then 20 – 60 days depending if Meds and PCC where front loaded… ( I have based these numbers on the www.austimeline.com information…)

There seems to however be a bit of a lull in the guys filling this info in on austimeline.com so I can’t gauge this anymore…

Anyway it seems to me that the main focus of this thread is the mail from ASPC, but I can’t see that this is accurate, cause they are supposed to be processing September now, and I see on Austimeline that people form SA got PR Visas in June for apps done in September… we are now hitting July, so where does this leave us…

HI Gary

This is the exact reason why I started our spreadsheet, to keep track of South Africans and how long they wait for their visas. The more people join, the more help it would be for others. Check it out at http://www.freewebs.com/saaustraliaforum

As for the different processing times amongst us Saffers, I think it all depends on the whether you frontload your meds or not. If a case officer gets hold of your file and meds & pcc's are already done he can just do his final checks and say yes or no.

Cheers

Hie Gary 99

They have different processing times for different countries. They have I think 2 groups of countries, the Low Risk and High Risk. The high risk countries' applications take almost twice the time as the low risk countries. I copied this from the page: www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/136/after-you-lodge.htm

Application processing times

For complete applications, department will process 75% of applications in the time listed in the table below.

Processing times vary depending on 'high risk' or 'low risk' country requirements. Low risk countries are Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) eligible. High risk countries are those not on the ETA list.

See: www.eta.immi.gov.au

The tables below outline service standards for low and high risk countries.

Service Standard for Low Risk Countries

Visa type Onshore

(If your visa can be granted while you are in Australia )

Offshore

(If your visa can be granted while you are outside Australia )

General Skilled Migration six (6) months 12 months

Skilled Independent Regional five (5) months seven (7) months

Service Standard for High Risk Countries

Visa type

Onshore

(If your visa can be granted while you are in Australia)

Offshore

(If your visa can be granted while you are outside Australia)

General Skilled Migration six (6) months 15 months

Skilled Independent Regional five (5) months seven (7) months

Note: Incomplete and some individual applications may take longer depending on the completeness and complexity of the case.

Ok I am confused…

From what I gather the actual processing times are worst case scenarios.

My wife's cousin and friends of theirs got their visas SIX months after application date. It seems that there are some countries that are being disadvantaged in the process, but SA is not one of them.

I am also aware of a guy that was in the airforce whose application also only took just over six months till the visa was issued. And he had to supply them with a load of clearances due to the fact that he was in the armed forces.

Anyway good luck to everybody. Holding thumbs that we can be in Brisbane by next year Feb, so my daughter can start school there and not have to wait another year in SA before taking that big step.

Hi All,

Our 136 application was delivered to ASPC on 12 June 2007, we haven't heard anything from them - no payment taken or the pre-acknowledgment email received. Is there anyone else out there still waiting? Or should I start putting another application together??

Stressed out!!!!!

Thanks

Rodz

This is for PR which stands for Permanent Resident visa there are various options for this visa depending on your qualifications etc etc. The 457 is a Temporary Resident visa this is the one you are waiting for.

So when you do your PR application probably once you arrived in Aussie, this one will be for you too!

Hi guys, how is everyone. I am very new to this whole thing..... Question: How does the 457 visa process work? We have been for our x-rays and the application has been lodged electronically 2 weeks ago but I still have the certified copies of the paperwork with me! Do we have to wait for a case officer to reuqest the copies and how long does that take. We have sold our house so as of end August we are "homeless" and we have to sell all our furniture before end August..... This whole thing is frustrating cause no one seems to be able to give a timeframe - my agent has said anything from 6+ weeks to 16 weeks - That is a huge gap

Thanks again

Hi Guys

So help me predict here then! If we lodged on the 8th June and received official Ack on the 6 July and Arrived at ASPC on the 17th July........when do you think we'll get a case officer.....and then once we have one how long does it take to get the visa if you have front loaded and already have done the medicals, police clearances and Ielts?

Give me something to work towards I'm begging ya!! :holy:

I know you all know how depressing it can be waiting....also worried if we get a job offer does it really help to send that offer through, I mean does it speed up your 136 visa application or would we have to go on a 457. We still have to sell two houses, one business, get shares out of another company and havent' told anyone we're going yet until we have something solid date wise.

Help me please!

In the event that you are unable to validate your visa within the six month period from the Police clearance are allowed to apply and get further police clearance or does it stipulate in the passport visa what date you have to validate by?

I don't particularly what to fly out twice in order to make the move.
