Hello all, just joined the forum. I'm Pauline. This looks like a great source of information. Is there a quick summary somewhere for new joiners? I came across a table of dates for various stages which seemed very useful, is there a quick way to find this again other than scrolling through each page? Not sure if my signature is showing but our lodgement date is 10 November 2016 so it seems a long wait still!

Welcome @Pauline.

Hope you enjoy the waiting room. It helps a lot to chat to other people in the same situation.

Can start a new business:   Live tracking of your flight over.  Second thought at the rate that they are being granted, won’t be enough to retire. 🤔

Hello Pauline, from one newbie to another. I see homeaffars have today updated their official view, 49 and 55 months.

I think, with all that is going on, one  cannot look at the past to try and predict. Yesterday I received a mail shot...  below.

It your application is in you are in the queue, when they start moving again we will be in a better position to play the prediction game again.

Migration Slowdown

The Australian Government has implemented a wide-ranging program to slow the migration program down. There are strong views in certain sectors of the Australian community, as well as amongst some politicians, that the levels of Australian immigration are too high and that a slowing down of migration would be welcome. This slowdown commenced with the change from 457 to TSS visas.........

@Ike me thinks we have the same migration agent  🤫

I received the newsletter mine sends out with exactly the same paragraph in it! Really just reiterating what is already known to many.  Unfortunately......

As you said, if our application is in, we’re in the queue; so here goes, fingers crossed and happy waiting (with the help of a tot or two)  😬🤪🍀

What the heck, it looks like the DIBP stop inviting 143 applicants whom applied after 1/07/2015 to provide documents such as medicals, policy check and etc.

Are they still processing visa 143 up to 5th May 2015 or has the date changed?

Still the same, no change. My hypothesis

they are processing the other streams that they have slotted into the 143 queue

they are waiting to get the new AOS approved

they are just waiting..

Those that change visa types will not be disadvantaged, the ones in the queue ?  Just  another thought.

@KevinLee

There is no update from me yet.

Its very strange that the AOS application processing time is different between people.

It took me 5 weeks to completely finish AOS for my dad but it takes my cousin 5 months (may be more) for my mom and brother.

We both submitted almost same time at the beginning of April. They said my cousin would receive the bank guarantee letter at the end of May, (then June, and then July, and now August) while My AOS was completely done at the beginning of May. The only different is that I submitted it online while my cousin did paper application at the Sydney service centre. (Maybe thats why)

My cousin calls every month to check on it. She got the inteview call mid April and all approved but they havent sent the bank guarantee letter yet.

Case officers are current processing applications lodged on 5/5/2015. Mine is 16/6/2015. It took 2 months from May to July to move from 30/4 to 5/5. With this snail speed, the delay on AOS doesnt bother me much. But hopefully my cousin AOS will be done before case officer appointed.

So  you apply for AOS before you have a case officer appointed to deal with your visa application?

Hello , I have been a member since 2017 and even though I do not comment on the board I read it regularly.

First of all I want to thank all the people who contribute their time and effort to make this so very informative.

All the research and experience  from applying,  packing, moving, banking, and to your new life in Australia

is vey valuable information. A little bit about me.

We live in Canada about 2 hours west of  Toronto in city called LONDON.( population about 300000).

So you are asking why we are moving to Australia. The answer is simple.

My oldest daughter was in Medical school in Canada and was picked to do exchange with university of

Sydney in Australia and there she met a young medical student from Australia, Now both of them are

Doctors in Sydney . My daughter is a specialist at the university. My second daughter was a teacher in Toronto

went to visit she liked it and now she teaches in Sydney. One of them is a citizen and the other is a permanent

resident. My third daughter was on 457 visa which was renewed once and cancelled put on bridging visa  and

about 3 weeks ago they have replaced it with a 2 year visa do not know  all the details.

For us we would never be able to replicate the standard of living  we enjoy here  mostly because of housings costs

In Sydney, but when 3 of your daughters and 4 grand children live there  and we do not have any extended family here in

Canada there is nothing keeping us here.

Now for all of you moving from South Africa  you will never be able to replicate the life you enjoy in S, A in Australia, but

what you are going to get and I feel that is the most important is LAW AND ORDER and peace of mind about your safety.

Whether you are driving ,shopping. or asking for services you will find people very friendly and honest.

For all those in the queue waiting for their visa I think you have to be patient. We applied in August 2015 and I thought by now

we would have received a request medical and police check. The only thing I can say is we should all feel lucky that

we are in the queue because the sentiment around the world is turning negative on any kind of immigration. I believe

it also protects us from any future changes or price increase. I feel from experience here in Canada most of the people

process these visa are very professional and reason it is not moving is because they short staffed..

Sorry for my ramble this morning and if I have said anything I am not suppose to say I apologize. .

I  just wanted to correct a statement i made above should read moving from S.A , TO Australia  You may not be able replicate the same life.

We moved  from Uganda  in    in East Africa during the Idi Amin rule and it took my family a long adjustment period.

@Viet thanks for the update. That's weird, you should ask your cousin to call Centerlink to chase up the bank guarantee letter.

@KevinLee. Where are you sitting in the process Kev? Ashamed to say I have not been keeping up.

What with finding jobs and doing all sorts of courses, it has been pretty hectic but I am loving every minute of it.

It is a bit scary in the beginning but I am finally beginning to settle in.

Good luck to you all folks.

Keep posting and supporting each other.

No I havent got case officer yet. They sent an email on 29/03/2015 to invite me to prepare documentation such as AOS, overseas police clearance, health check ...

Centrelink told my cousin its gonna be sent at the end of August. They couldnt tell her why my AOS was processed so much faster even both submitted at the same time.

I am just a little worried that my brother will graduate at the end of this year and no longer qualified as a dependent on parents application.

Does anyone know what is happening, have they stopped processing visas 143?

It doesn't move steadily unfortunately. It might not seem to move much and then will suddenly jump quite a bit. Waiting is hard but there is no other option. At least you are in the queue and will get to the front eventually.

We lodged our applications on 18th August 2015 so hopefully not long to wait once they start again processing visas 143.
