Probably not to bad, the thing that gets me though is that after his hospitalization in September I went back after three weeks to get the results only to hear that yes there is something wrong but no we cant understand the results and you need to see a heart specialist, then I get a call from another DR at the hospital and she told me not to worry if his hands turn color, I need to worry if his lips and the inside of his mouth turn color. Then at my follow up pediatric appointment another DR asks me so how many times has his hands turned color? So I'm so confused now! I'm just watching him like a hawk! I'm just on pins and needles, wishing the days away till the 17th Dec, but they'll probably do some more tests? But I'll try to relax, coz my shoulders is so stiff I can't turn my head quickly- feels like I'm tearing a muscle. Can hardly chew any more, my jaw is that stiff, and I constantly burst into tears! I've contacted a place that put's you into contact with a free counselor, hopefully I'll hear something soon, I need to start coping with my life again!

hugs, i cannot imagine how difficult it is

we cant afford to join etc, but my mom knows a few people around (she is on the GC) so she is hoping to attend the African Day but if not will donate and has passed it to laods telling them to pass it, and told her friends in other states to please donate - so i hope something comes out of this from our end

Good morning!

I have very, very good news today! But first: isn't it crazy just how quickly time flies? With a shock we realised that our little man turns 1 in less than a month! We immediatly went and put some prezzies and party stuff on layby for him!

On to the good news: in the post today I have received a very thick letter from the hospital in which the district officer have decided to write off some of our hospital debt after receiving a letter from the Government Private Health Ombudsman (who helped us by getting our health insurance to pay $12 000 more) and after the funds raised at the African Day, our debt is now at only $1 901,08!!!!!

So we need to raise only $6500 to help clear the hospital debt, pay for our Permanent Residency to ensure we can stay in Australia and pay for our rental Vehicle Accident. I know this is achievable through all of you wonderfull people!!!!!! And I hope that we can raise this before Kris's first Birthday on the 20th of December!!! What a wonderfull celebration we can have then!!! We are truly an example of people's generosity! I know now that if you ask people they will always reach out to help!!! I'm just sitting here and crying! This is such a big turnaround from our once hopeless situation!

I wish all of you a very blessed week and hope to hear from you soon!

Isn't Australia just wonderfull?! Our minister told the congregation about our sad news yesterday and 2 people immediatly came forward and pledged $1000 each towards our tickets to South Africa! I'm so glad there is people who see that we've been through so much this past year and really willing to help us do something we just wouldn't have been able to do at all. Such a contradiction to the nasty e-mail I got this morning. I'm just so overwhelmed by everybodies kind hearts. I just wish this year will past, I really can't take anymore bad news! Thank you again to all of you guys! You are God's shining light for me on earth! Never under estimate what you've done for us!

So little Kris is 1 year old now and he got to spend it with his family although it was still a bit sad. I also feel a little sad that my parents in law were willing to buy out policies to get us here for the funeral but weren't able to help us when we were in really big trouble. But I'm so glad that God has provided through all of you guys! Hope everyone has a blessed Christmas!

Hi Carolien,

I know I am resurrecting an old post here, but was just wondering how you and your family is getting on? Your story actually made me cry and I'd love to know if you got sorted out?

Hi Hardy,

Thank you very much! It's going a little better, we still owe $1400 to the hospital and Kris's heart specialist appointment was moved to March. Luckily our house was not affected by the flood and we hope to be able to save up the money this year for our Permanent Residence. I just want to thank all the people again for their great giving spirit! Once again it is shown in this sad time again!

Hi There

I would like to apologise for my long silence, weve had a rough couple of months, had to move, Kris got a food allergy and our computer has died as well. I really would like to thank a lot of people, I wish I could thank all of you personally, but I will be thanking some special people and thank you to all the anonymous people as well, you know who you are!!!

Firstly our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the floods and the earthquake in Christchurch. It really makes ones own problems pale in significance.

How we are doing: Kris is now 14months old with 5 very sharp teeth, he is such a unique little boy, he went from a leopard crawl to a scuttle crawling on his hands and feet with his bum in the air like a beetle! We are so blessed to have him in our lives; he brings a smile to all who sees him! December and January were really tough for us, we had 3 close family deaths, all young people under 30. I vividly relived much of what happened around the time of Kriss birth, although going on antidepressants was the last thing I wanted to do, I am happy to say that it seems the medicine is working, and I am doing a lot better! Kris's heart specialist appointment is now on the 25Th of March, and we ask that you keep us in your prayers!

I would like to say thank you to the following people:

People that helped us by giving practical items such as food, clothes, diapers and toys for Kris especially Johannie, Yolandie and Debbie. This made a big difference!

The many, many people who donated into the hospital fund. I am glad to say that we now only owe $1400. I can't believe that a little more than a year ago we owed $30 100!

Thank you to Matilda Scarfe, Joy Heylen, Eva, Hennie Botha, Rochelle and the boys from the Porseleintrein and all the businesses that so generously donated to the African day! You all have hearts of gold!

Thank you to the members of our church who made a huge contribution to the hospital bill and also helped raise funds to assist us in being at the funeral.

Thank you to the person who offered Philip a Saturday job, but unfortunately, as he knows, it was already alleged that Philip was working for another company, he had a disciplinary hearing and threatened with deportation if proven guilty.

Thank you to the new friends who have stopped by, who have offered support and a shoulder to cry on. Especially Eva, Nicoleen, Johannie, Yolandie, Jean-Marie and Debbie.

Thank you to everyone for caring about us so much. Please continue to pray for us. We have started this year with a new house and job and we hope and pray that we will be able to apply for our Permanent Residency this year.

If you would like more information please contact our Minister Marius Kruger Highfields Community Church at: Marius.kruger@bigpond.com

Kind Regards

Carolien

What fantastic news - I pray he goes from strength to strength and you will look back and wonder if it was ever possible that he had a problem. I am so sorry to hear about your loss of 3 family members all so young, so very difficult when you are far from your family and cant share the grief. Will be holding thumbs for PR.
