They have not moved passed this point in about 4 weeks, it looks to me like they are processing all applications before this date before they move forward again. I imagine (hope) that once this back log is cleared that they will move quite quickly through the newer applications because the number of invites dropped quite dramatically from the first round in December. Hopefully it wont be too long for you now! Thank you, that gives me a bit of hope. Fingers crossed

Tntaglia
I love how the table is filling up with green! I'm getting pretty nervous now, if we get a direct grant it can come through any day now. A couple of people who lodged 18 Jan for 190 have received direct grants in the last couple of days so hopefully I will have good news soon. That would be amazing! But I'm grateful that we at least got the 457 and managed to get to Sydney, having PR will make our lives easier but I'm counting my blessings either way. Thanks! We've rented a house in Turramurra on the north shore, which is lovely. Beautiful wooded area, quiet and relaxed. Unfortunately our house is far from the train line (that's the only reason we could afford it, closer to the train line is more expensive!) but there is a bus and we're coping well. It is still all pretty new. Our container hasn't arrived yet (should have been here a week ago, in Sydney anyway, but it's been delayed so now we wait) but some people from church have lent us some furniture and we've bought some basics at IKEA etc that we didn't pack in the container anyway. So that's been good. I highly recommend to everyone not to pack your fridge - there is absolutely no way we would have been able to keep going without a fridge so we would probably have bought one anyway and then had a white elephant when the container arrives. We also didn't pack our couches for a similar reason (plus my husband didn't really like the couches ) so our IKEA ones should be delivered today. All good. Making friends is going to take a while so it feels a bit lonely at times, to be honest, and my kids are desperate for social interaction with other kids but they should start school by the start of next term (less than 2 weeks now). So bit by bit everything falls in place. It will take long to really feel like home, I think, but that was always going to be the case. In principle we really enjoy Sydney, it's beautiful and safe and people are friendly. Everything works!

How long does it take to travel into the city by bus? Who did you use for your container and why has it been delayed? Thanks for the advice on the fridges. My husband is dead set on packing ours, but ive also heard a lot of people saying that it doesnt always fit into the kitchens there. Im sure once school starts you will make friends too with other families with kids the same age as yours. Good luck with that. So happy to hear that you are enjoying Sydney!! it gives me a lot of hope

So happy to hear that you are enjoying Sydney!! it gives me a lot of hope My commute is just over an hour - 10 minutes walking to the bus stop, 10 minutes on the bus, 35 minutes on the train and 5 minutes walking to work, typically. Not too bad. The train is nice and fast and usually comfortable, plus since we're not too close to the city it has never happened that I don't get a seat. Execu-move did our container. No idea about the delay, but they say it's not unusual - bad weather, waiting to dock in some of the harbours on the way etc. But this is not reflecting the company who packs & unpacks the container, it's MSC (and I'm pretty sure they ship most of the containers from SA to Aus) so no matter who packed the container it would have been on the same boat probably.
