Thanks @lucian

I actually didn't get one yet. Agent hasn't called yet either. We're actually busy driving down  to Durban today so only logged on and saw finalized with Grant letters. Will check in more detail once we get there

Since the visa grant things have been pretty hectic. Have a buyer for our house, plenty of job applications, two interviews and friday got a solid job offer!!! 😃

Private Christian school in a small town in queensland (biloela) which (apart from the heat) sounds perfect for our family and our preferences. Salary not quite what I was hoping for, but I believe it will be sufficient, especially in a small town. Will just have to work myself up the ladder again.

Probably going to book our flight for 10 December, tickets are cheaper on a sunday. Not taking a container, only clothes. Looking forward to starting over that side.

Now to thoroughly check the 100 point list of things to do before emigrating for anything that may slip our minds.

Good luck for those still waiting and for those needing to do similar arrangements.

Good on you @Karools. Congratulations on your job offer. So have u already registered with QCT?

Yes, most of the schools where I applied (and it was plenty) only required that you be registered OR eligible to register as a teacher in the specific state. Some of them required a registration number on an electronic registration form, so those were a no-go for me.

This specific school is an independent school and the contact was much more personal. Direct communication to the principal, so could explain my situation easily.

You also a teacher I am assuming?

Well done @Karools.  You've managed to pull everything together to catch the "third term recruitment round" that all schools do.  Well done on picking the less obvious choice of a regional community. They struggle to attract teachers because Aussies are so city centric.  You will be considered quite a catch as an experienced male teacher who is willing to be away from the big smoke.  Small communities are great at including newbies and your integration will be easier for sure.  If you are going to the school I'm thinking of, then they already have a Saffa or two on their staff so instant friends too.

I salute you too for not taking a container.  I wish we had done the same thing as camping on the floor with no furniture was an experience but not necessarily a fun one. It would have been better to just buy beds etc straight way rather than waiting. Cost of container versus buying furniture here is probably about even in my opinion.

All the best with your move.  You have done well in navigating opportunities and securing a job already. Great research and effort on your part (not luck ^_^) Well done.

Thanx a bunch @RYLC, yes I was quite busy the last couple of weeks SEEKing like crazy. Kudos on actually knowing saffas in a small town 2200 km from Adelaide!

Now for the next tricky part, securing accomodation in a town about a billion km's away. I am really keen to buy a mid-low cost house asap. I know it is a risk buying property before you truly understand the market that side, but it is in my nature to just jump fully into something like this.

We'll see what happens, gonna have some serious debating with my wife 😁 (She is the more cautious of the two of us, bringing the reality checks now and then). I fully understand why married men live longer!

We are now just itching to board that plane!
