Biltongboer
Ek wil graag weet hoe kry mens 'n 'sponsor'? Wannago
Hi All,I wike some advice. My wife is a qualified hairdresser who has had her Skills Assessment done and approved. Unfortunately due to a stupid error on my part (not getting her to do her IELTS exam before applying), our 175 visa application was rejected. I would like to know what you guys would suggest as my best option to move forward from herWe would really prefer not to have to re-apply and lose another R15000. I was thinking that we could go over on a holiday/working visa and then put in whatever application while already living in Aus. Is this plausible? We would be aiming for Brisbane as that is where my sister and her husband are, and my parents will be moving there in the next 3-4 months.Any advice will be greatly appreciated.Madman13
Kerry-Lea
I am shocked that your app was rejected! Didn't they give you the opportunity to do the test???!!!!!
steynrr
HiMy hubby posted his CV on IT sites and also seek. A Lot of recruitment agencies looks there for CV's. He had 3 interviews. Telephonic and also a video conference with skype. Thanks to technology. They made the offer within 2 days and started the visa application. All we had to do was X-rays. This was courierd and took about a week. After that our 457 was approved within 20 days. No IELTS needed. Within 2 months of his 1st interview he started working. I am in a different field but are also able to work immediately. Hope this helps. Steynrr

demstones
Hi All, Yip we're also on our way out!We are coming over on a sponsored 457 visa, PR application hopefully soon after.I need to know if I can get my sister 37(who is dependant on us) over as well. Not in original application. If so, how? Advice is appreciated!Demstones
Clueless
Narms, the 457 is based on what the sponsoring company is looking for. If you get the job with the sponsor and their nomination is accepted to sponsor you then you're fine.I have been offered a job and the company is prepared to do the sponsorship and nomination. The position on the contract is listed as "Bookkeeper/Accountant" iThe company knows I am not qualified and the manager told me he was not looking for a high profile person. I have a short term Diploma in Management Accounts and Finance, if the nomination is accepted will this mean that I do not need to worry that I am not qualified for the position? Asor
Would someone be willing to show an example of their CV format? Or give an idea of what theirs looked like while looking for a sponsor? We get mixed feedback on my husbands CV, it is 7 pages long, and when he makes it shorter, gets little feedback. Mostly he gets asked whether he has a visa, as soon as he says no - game over. I'm getting the feeling that maybe we need to restructure the CV. Any help would be appreciated! PS He is an IT Systems Administrator / Programmer. Thanks in advance! I found them very helpful and efficient when I contacted them recently with a query. All the best, Laura-Michelle

We arrived in Oz in July 08 through my 457 at one of the big 4 accounting firm and were told by many that my husband would get a job quickly, he is in similar field to yours, although he is elec.engineer rather than pure IT. Despite excellent references and 9 years experience, he is yet to secure a position here (in Sydney) - partly due to the fact that he is on my 457 rather than a PR. Consider applying for the 175 while you are in SA - I think the government benefits you get from being a PR is better than the LAFHA benefits you get on the 457 but I stand corrected...Anyone else out there with an opinion on this?Cheers! huffnpuff
I've been applying like mad for jobs in Aus since January, starting through recruitment agencies and job websites, but had no luck. Then I thought that if an employer has to pay agents commission as well as relocation costs my chances would be quite slim, its pure economics. I then targeted companies that specialise in the fields in which I have experience, and found that they all have a careers section on their websites. It was very time consuming but I went through the tedious process of answering all of the questionaires on the "upload your CV/resume" sections on the websites of multiple companies. I did this for a few weeks in a row and then got fed up and about gave up. One day I decided not to go into work because I can get more done working from home without distraction. At 9am my phone rang, it was an Australian company wanting to set up a telephonic interview for the following day. I had not put my phone down for 5 minutes when it rang again, another company in Australia wanting to set up a telephonic interview! I'm starting to think maybe God does have a plan for me in Aus... I went through both interviews OK I guess, but one of them was one of those psychometric jobs that took an hour and was painful, so be warned (I reckon don't even swot, just be honest). I was asked for references from one of the companies, which I gave and they followed up (the referees told me). About a week later I got an email with a job offer, which I accepted. The sponsor company then had to nominate my position to Aus govt, and the nomination was successful. I then lodged 457 visa application online with nomination reference number, we got an email back quickly saying it was rejected because they didn't have all of the required forms. They were specific about what they wanted, they wanted chest x-rays for my wife and I, and full medicals for the kids, and we had 28 days in which to get the medicals through to them. We had to wait 2 weeks for a booking for the medicals, but they went through OK (according to FEDEX website they have been delivered in Sydney) and now we are waiting to hear the outcome.Do they now grant the visa right away or are there any other things we may be asked for? Vijay
Unabridged birth certificates came back with key information missing. i.e. parents surname, ID number and Country of birth. Will this pose a problem for PR? Applied for 457, medicals submitted and now waiting. Vijay
michelleweideman
my husband has been offered a job in brisbane and the agent who we are working with gave us a whole list of documents, but my hubbies contract is an email stating how much he will be paid fortnightly, but no info on working times or leave (annual or sick) so to me it sounds very dodgy, everything seems to be word of mouth.... his salary will go up after the 6 months probabion period, but we still not knowing how much.... we also have to pay $1000 to get the ball rolling on our side with the visa's which we then must pay a further 2080 dollars to complete the visa applications. he is applying for a 475 visa, but my husband's job description is an auto electrician which is on the wanted job list for brisbane. do you think we should push for him to apply for a 175 or 176, or should we do that ourselves once we there in brisbane........ as to start that now here in s.a it will take us to long.thanks guys, any advice is much appriciated. Vijay
Hi,My husband and I am currently in Oz on a 457 visa. You don't have to return to SA after 4 years, except I guess if you don't apply for your permanent residency. We are busy with our applications for permanent residency, just waiting for police clearance reports from SA... I don't know much about other type of visas, but we have not had any problems so far. My husband even changed employers after just 3 months here and also that was no problem. He just had to apply for new 457 visa with new employer. I can work anywhere, no problems. Let me know if there is anything specific you need to know, then I can maybe give you that info. The whole application process is not at all difficult, so don't worry about that (if maybe you were, as we were ) We have applied for a 457 visa and are waiting for approval. We hope to apply for PR as soon after arrival as possible. However, our police clearances are only valid for six months and I suspect will expire before the PR application. We now have to have these re-issued. Further, my unabridged birth certificate came back with very little detail about my parents. Staff at home affairs in Pretoria have told me that they can only enter information they was entered in the birth register. Will this pose a problem. What other documentation is required for the PR application?RegardsVijay
