Bronwyn&Co
And that is why if anyone cared to read my post carefully including the disclaimer and have the decency to quote me in full you will see that I stated that the crime situation in SA is unacceptable and indefensible. What I was doing is pointing out facts, facts of the WC which was collected from mortuaries (not SAP crime stats) as the mortuary details do include race and type of injury that caused death. Not my facts, not my research so don't shoot the messenger. I don't know where anyone reads that by putting these facts out there that white people do not get murdered, that's not what the facts say. They merely point out that crime is across all races, but certain races and hence demographics experience higher levels of crime. But then you can subscribe to one if the extreme rightwing websites and get a completely warped and skewed view on which to base your views on murder stats.Agree 100%. Mikej
Another serious technical issue when comparing crime stats. In South Africa the murder numbers exclude manslaughter (culpable homicide in Australia) there are another 15000 manslaughters in Za every year.In Australia the murder figures include culpable homicide. Mel-B
Still a very nasty place to try and live in. Funtobeaussiechick, it's a lot higher than that. I know some senior cops and what they do is classify as many unlawful deaths as "other" or a similar category to bring the numbers down. They do the same for home invasions and farm murders to try BS the public. There is actually a group of stats people whose job it is to fudge the numbers....Agreed. Our neighbour was hit on the head with a hammer, which cracked his skull in, he was found on the kitchen floor with the hammer next to him, open head, his wallet was stolen, burglar bars ripped off the bathroom windows, he was hard of hearing. Official cause of death was a heart attack. I was so upset when I heard this, the man will never have justice, and his life was worth nothing to the society that he contributed to his entire life. Heard many such stories, but this one I could verify. On a side note hearing about the forum member whose husband got robbed by police - I mentioned this to my family and friends and it seems that 4 people I know had family who had the same thing happen - all in joburg. Only 1 made a case and was called on her cellphone and told in no uncertain terms that she must drop the case or she will be killed. She dropped the case. There is no one who she could turn to. SICK SICK SICK.

SurferMan
Not bad, but no space for my butler...the block is only 810m2, far too small for my frugal taste...lol. This would probably be his pad, mine would be the shack on the beach at the end of Bribie Island....lol. I must say, I am seriously liking Noosa buddy.
