Mine showed requested till the very last day, than changed to recieved, and the morning after at 4am I got my grant letter.

Hey Kit,

Nothing further yet. Our medicals have been completed, and we are waiting the dreaded wait to get our police clearances back :holy: , so as soon as we receive them and send them through - it hopefully won't be long after that, that we can also post a 'We Got It' !

Good luck to everyone who is so close! We still have a few months after receiving the visa to wait, as we are only planning (if everything goes according to plan) to go over in Jan/Feb 2011.

But the months will fly by!

aah, dreaded police clearances. Also waiting and waiting and waiting and..........

Thought I had to share this.

Heard on the budget speach that we, as tax payers, are docking up twice more than 5 years back in salaries for goverment workers.

On Highveld radio they made this calculation - we are receiving only a quarter of the service of 5 years back out of the goverment departments - therefore were we should have paid R5 for R5 servcie we now pay R10 for R2-50 serviceS.

I had a good giggle and that made me feel better - hope this helps you too.

Yes, if you really look around you - there are many reasons to leave. And especially during this time of WAITING for the visa. Whenever you see or hear something, you usually go to your partner: 'See, there's just another reason why we're leaving'.

The Problem Is Though - that we often forget all these little reasons once we're overseas and the homesickness kicks in.

Everything starts to feel hazy, and you remember with fondness the highveld storms, or the beautiful colours of autumn.. and poor service, disrespect, and the feelings of paralyzing fear whenever you heard a strange noise around your house at night fade away a little.

Pity we can't 'bottle' all these feelings and experiences and visions that make us want to leave, so that we can take a good sniff everytime we feel homesick! :holy:

But take it from someone who's lived in NZ before and came back to SA - no matter which way you look at it, it probably is the only thing you can do - leave. :lol:

So well put, Sunshine. I'm looking at buying a camcorder to document our year before moving, INCLUDING the sh1tty bits!!

On that (off-topic) note, can anyone recommend a decent camcorder? :P:)

And I'm so impatient to get this visa already, cos of planning a nice, short holiday in Aug to activate it... I know it's not yet been 4 months but jissie... I'm so amped at the prospect of a holiday!

Mine was a month, but I've seen anything from a week to a month, and that seems to be the norm if all other papers are in order.

I feel the same way. Our stuff has been waiting now since 12 Feb........ Dying to get that visa already! A month, on Friday... Maybe it'll be our day?

Thanks guys, we are very blessed. My agent says the new application times are now just over a month for critical skills list, that is such good news for new applicants.
