Moeilike besluit

Thanks for the interesting discussion. I have my own dilemma as my oldest will be 6 in Dec. We are hoping to leave in 2010 from June onwards. I was going to keep him back in the nursery school until we arrived but i have decided after comments from Dax and others to let him start in Jan 2010, even though he only turns 7 in Dec. He will be 6 but he is really mature and doing well with concepts. I dont want him to be older then his peers.

Thank heavens my other one will only be 4 when we leave and will start school there from the beginning.

Keep the discussion going as it is very helpful!

Hi, dankie DAX

Hoop ek sal jul in 2010 in Canberra sien.

Tata!

Weet julle waaroor moet julle eintlik bekommerd wees?

Dis nou as jy wil he hulle moet.

My man kon lekker afluister as hulle skinder toe hy in Holland gewerk het. So moedig tweetaligheid aan - jy doen jou kind 'n groot guns.

So onthou julle Afrikaanse boeke en DVD's en PRAAT AFRIKAANS. Net as as julle wil...

Our daughter turned 6 in May, when we came here (6 months ago) they put her in Grade 1 (she was in Grade R in SA), we were so stressed about it thinking she wouldn't cope but she brought home the most beautiful report at the end of the year - all A's and B's! She is going to Grade 2 next year - her best little friend in SA who is a year older than her is also going to Grade 2.

Maybe it helps that we're english speaking, well to be honest she has picked up the ozzy accent so quickly she's actually ozzy speaking :D

Hi Brissy Bessies,

I am soooo relieved to hear your daughter coped, even though she was put straight into grade 1 at 6 years of age. My daughter turns 6 in March and is currently in Grade R in SA. We are hoping to be over in April 2009 and I was very concerned about the big leap from grade R to Grade 1, but now Ii feel better. I also have a 12 year old boy who is turning 13 in May 2009 and he is currently in Grade 7 in SA. So once we get over there he will go straight to High School - can you beleive it - High School - my little boy. Needless to say he is thrilled at the prospect, just hope he copes as well. Fortunately Ii regard both my kids as strong individuals with strength of character, so I hope this will help them manage.

Cheers

MANDY

Danksy skitterende skole en onderwys hier is my seun binne 1 jaar up to standard en ek sal altyd dankbaar wees.

I want to revive this thread. Now that our visa process has started moving again, i need to think carefully about our entry date

My daughter will be 7 next year and is already enrolled for Grade 1 in Pretoria. IF our visa comes through and IF we can sell our property, should I allow her to finish Gr 1 or should be get there ASAP in the middle of the year?
