I've hit a panic attack!

Hi all - I was happily reading though topics on the forum and suddenly fear clutched my heart! I realised I have to do so many things before we move to Adelaide in December I don't know where to start.

We got our approval on Thursday, spent the weekend breaking the news to everyone, and now I've realised it's actually going to happen.

There is actually so much info available it's scary (Seems sometimes too much knowledge is a bad thing). Is the best way to tackle it to make a huge list and start crossing things off? Help! B)

Hallo BH , Seems like we are moving to Adelaide also in December B) , and need to go to the Docters in Pretoria on Thursday. I can start by saying we have made a list , and the only way is to start at the top and hope your ticks finish before the plane flies. I am lucky to still have family this side if i don't finish in time. I just know the plane will not leave without me , know matter what! :P have whated a year already :) . Will you be taken a container?

Hope this helps...... http://www.saaustralia.org/index.php?showtopic=16

Don't stress too much - half the stuff you worry about never happens! Be well prepared, think practical, take every day as it arrives and do what you can, still allowing yourself time to be with your friends & family in these last few months. I know, when we went though the process, we were so stressed out and involved in our arrangements to get here, that we neglected friends and family. Just relax, everything will work out fine! :)

Hi Bronwyn,

You cannot go wrong using Riekie's list. It was my most precious possesion during our last few weeks in SA. I still have it as a memoir of that frantic but exiting time. Relax and enjoy it as much as you can. It is not every day that you stand on the verge of a new life, savour the experience! :)

Greetings,

Dreamy

Hi - I think Riekie's list was the first thing I ever printed off the Forum, I'm definately going to use it. I think it's good advice not to forget about the family & friends too, I'll remember that. Thanks guys. :)

Lieze - yes we have also been busy for a year with this thing. We are taking a container although we thought about it a lot and almost decided not to, it will be cheaper & easier at the end of the day. I keep seeing little things like our camping stuff & my sewing machine and I think, how much is that going to cost there? A lot! The exchange rate is not getting any better. If you go to the travel clinic tomorrow in Hatfield you might be lucky to get Dr Lingenvelder, very nice doctor. It's nothing to stress about.

Where in Adelaide are you planning to settle and do you have any kids?

Regards, Bronwyn

Hi

B H and Lieze, I share in your excitement and anxiety. :)

We are moving to Perth at the end of October, got the news on Friday, so things are a bit hectic at this moment, and after reading Riekie's list I'm even more nervous, there is so many things we did not think about.

The most important thing we have to decide is if we're going to take a container, I don't think our earthly goods will fill a container and it's a lot of money to pay and then not use the whole thing, so if there is somebody who wants to share a container to Perth please let me know. I would like to take some of my things and I think that's the only way I'll be able to get it to Perth.

Hey - congratulations on your upcoming move :) Five simple pieces of advice:

1) Read Riekie's list

2) Breathe

3) Consciously realise and remember that it's a great move and will improve your life :)

4) Read Riekie's list

5) Breathe some more

It's an exciting, terrifying journey - hang on and try to enjoy it. The pay-off is worth it :D

Cheers

Ajau

Oh, and another thing. Read Riekie's list and Breathe again

Hey Sulona if you only want to take some things why don't you do a shared container through Magna. Phone them on 011 824-0720 and they will come to your house and give you a free quote. Perth is very popular so you won't have to wait long for your things to arrive if you share. We attended a seminar (free) in Centurion that was held by Magna. It was great to meet a lot of people doing the same thing we are, and it really helped us understand the whole process. If you phone them maybe you can also ask when the next seminar is, they hold them quite often. It's a free cup of coffee :P & a chat, and you can take your kids with you if they are not too tiny and disruptive.... PS The guy that helped there us is called Wayne Botha, just had a look on his card.

Bye, Bronwyn

Hi Bronwyn, no we have not decided where to stay but will look at South or East and Hills. My husband will go over in Dec or beginning Jan to secure house and school for kids. We dont have a job yet, want to do some recearch first. Will go over with a state sponser visa. My kids are 5 and 8 years. Do you have a house yet and how old are your kids? I am sure everything will work out fine for both off us , in the end it always do, but it is the things we learn on the way that makes it worth the effort.

Watter tipe werk doen julle? Hoe was dit by die dokters? Bronwyn

Bronwyn :ilikeit:

Ek is Desember op verlof, so laat weet as julle 'n geleentheid vanaf die lughawe na julle woonplek wil he of sommer net 'n gids of inligting.

Laat weet asb voor or as julle hier is as julle enige verdere huip verlang, ek help graag waar ek kan. Stuur 'n PM en ek sal my verdere kontak besonderhede deurgee as julle dit nodig vind.

Hulle is 9, 11 an 14, so in daardie hitte sal ons versigtig moet wees.

Bronwyn

PS Het julle 'n groot tuin?

PPS Verskoon my Afrikaans, ek weet ek maak foute! :ilikeit:

Haar e-pos is DBHOOLA@iom.int.

Bronwyn

Lieze, weer ek. Die vrou het nou ge-quote, R6,510 per adult & R4,780 per child. Onthou my kinders is 9 & 11.

Groetnis,

Dreamy
