Cas
Hi all,I have contacted one day care centre in NSW and they have said that they will not accept any children without their immunisations being fully up to date. The problem is that we don't do the same vax as in Aus. I was wondering if this was a general rule or whether it just applied to this daycare centre as I could get my son's vax up to date in terms of what Aus does but it is incredibly costly! Carl and Jenny
HiMy 2 kids vacs were also not up to date by Aus standards but I can get them caught up for free at the local clinic. We are in Melbourne so I don't know if that makes a difference...My 2 year old was 2 vacs behind and my 5 year old was 1 behind. So SA seems to be fairly up to date compared to Aus.Jenny
da_feemail
Just make sure that you have their vac schedule with you and go to a GP asap when you arrive in Aus. normally the GP will compare what is on your schedule to what they use in Aus.You can ask the GP to also give you a letter thatt confirms your kids are on a "catch up" programme should there be any vacs they still need. The school and Centrelink and Medicare will accept the letter from the GP.I've been through the same thing, just my son's vacs was in chaos. But he is on a catch up programme and my Child Care Benefit was reinstated.Carelene
