Just 3½ hours north of Perth by car lies Western Australia's Mid West region and the twin towns of Dongara and Port Denison. The Administrative Centre for the Shire of Irwin is situated in Dongara and overlooking the marina a few kilometres away is the twin town of Port Denison. This area offers a relaxed lifestyle with beautiful beaches, historical sites and a healthy fishing industry. The main street, Moreton Terrace, is lined with Moreton Bay Fig trees which were planted in 1906 and are now a focal point of the town.

The Dongara Denison Sun, Surf and Sand Festival will commence on Friday, 9 November with the opening of the Art Exhibition at The Monastery, Saturday there will be market stalls, fine food and entertainment on Moreton Terrace and the Town Park and on Sunday, the Festival comes to a close with the Blessing of the Fleet.
