Australian clocks all go forward this Sunday

It's that time of year again . . . the last weekend in October.

This is the weekend when clocks in all States (except for Queensland and the Northern Territory) to be put forward one hour.

At 2 am on Sunday morning (Sun 28th October), being the last Sunday in October, we all put our clocks forward to make it 3 am.

Most folks just put all the clocks forward an hour before they hit the sack on Saturday night, so that it's the right time when they get up on Sunday morning.

You find the sunrises are an hour later, so instead of the sun coming up at 5:30 (say), it will rise at 6:30 . . . . . no big deal.

The bonus is that instead of it getting dark at 6:45 pm, you can keep on down the beach or partying at your braai till close to 8pm before the lights need to go on.

Super!

You'll really notice a difference in the living style of Australians after Daylight Savings kicks in.

They do a lot more outdoors living, such as having mates round for beer and barbie or go for bushwalks just out of town knowing that they will get back before dark, etc.

Enjoy.

Bob,

I just wish the Queensland government will catch a wake up and see the benefits.

But premier Bligh has put her foot down...

It can be confusing in the beginning to remember when to put the clock forward and when to put it back. A good simple saying I learned many years ago when I lived in New Zealand is "spring (spring/lente) forward and fall (winter/autumn) back".

To explain ..... when it's spring, set the clock forward and when it's autumn, set the clock back. Piece of cake!

Just to throw a spanner in the works, doesn't Adelaide (SA) only go forward half an hour? Or is it an hour and a half?!
