row Posted October 2, 2007 Report Share Posted October 2, 2007 Hi everyoneWe arrived in Brisbane 4 months ago, my husband, me and 2 young children. Having never been to Australia before and knowing just a handful of people it was daunting to say the least!So far, I have...... driven at night by myself and felt completely safe... stayed at home while my husband travelled and actually slept... driven with our windows down... drawn cash from an ATM while my children are with me... left my sons bike on our front porch (facing the road) over night and still found it there in the morning... left our shoes at the top of the beach while we went for a walk and found them there when we returned... went shopping for a couple of hours leaving our front door wide open (NOT intentional and probably not recommended )... dropped my phone by my car in a parking lot and found a note on my windscreen from a stranger telling me where she had handed it in (all my airtime was still on the phone!)... slept with our back door unlocked (again, not intentional)... left the kids in the car in the driveway while I ran inside to get my phone... met some fantastic people, both SA's and Australians... not missed SA once... stopped referring to SA as 'home'... had lots of laughs ... cried many tears ... felt very overwhelmed... had lots of ‘wow can you believe that we are actually here’ moments... missed family and friends terribly... not regretted the move for one minuteSo far, so good ..
