Yep. I bought Biltong today in Melbourne Central at the market, and it was pretty DAMN good.

They had 'biltong stokkies' written in afrikaans nogal, with a SA flag on, followed by 'made with pure aussie beef' LOL!

Yep, I know the stuff - was it "Protea Foods"?

They're starting to pop up everywhere in Melbourne :)

I've now bought that brand at 3 different places in the last month or so, including a local Bottle Shop.

I must say, after spending 7 or 8 years eating crappy imitation biltong in England, this is the best biltong I've tasted outstide of SA. (not the sliced biltong, but the stokkies)

Funny, the local deli that sells various SA stuff kinda has their signage a bit wrong -

I promised myself I'll tell them next time...

Hey Martin ek wonder hoe sou "Skippy" ( jou Avatar wat so rondspring!) proe in 'n biltongkie?

Hey Annette - long time ne?

I don't believe you guys, why don't you make your own, it is so easy. Make a wooden box with fly screen 3 sided and a door. you all got a fan I hope. Buy a whole rump from the butcher, he will slice it for you med steaks. all you need to do is slice it lenght ways (strips) spice/salt it leave in fridge for 1 1/2 days hang it on wire , put the fan full blast to air dry it 4/5 days it ready cost $6.99 a kilo not $45.99 as they charge. We use easy 9 whole rumps for the winter. It's just got to be as cold as possible.

Jaaaaa, swaer.

Groetnis,

Dreamy
