Getting settled!

Trevor & Hayley

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just arrived in Perth. My daughters are aged 3 and a half and 22 months. I don't really know anyone in Perth and would really like to meet other mom's and children in a similar situation to me. If anyone is interested in socialising or giving me tips on where to take my girls to interact with other children (besides a playgroup), I'd love to know. My 3 year old daughter was at school in Durbs this first half of the year and she is just desperate to play...she asks me everyday if she can go play with the children! I'm also super keen to meet people who have moved over...so ladies if anyone wants to go out, please let me know...

Otherwise, I'm happy and getting myself organised and settled!

Under the heading "spiritual" is a recent post by Tanya in which she asks if there are moms in Perth who would like to form a "moms with children" biblestudy group. She has two small children as well and is leaving for Perth soon (in August). Contact her.

In fact.

4 posts down under this heading Tanya is asking about how to make friends in Australia. Her children are 2 and 3.

Hi Hayley

Unfortunately we're not there yet because if we were, I would be so happy to have someone else in the same boat we're going to find ourselves in. We have a "just turned" 2 year old who loves to play with other children and being an only child, we have to make sure he has a lot of interaction. Not to mention ourselves as we're very social people and I do love my WINE ;)

As a matter of interest, where were you from in Durban?

We're also considering Perth as our city to go to, and I would be very interested to hear from you on what your first impressions are of settling in to this city (or town as people like to refer to it). We've had very mixed comments about Perth. What are the things that stand out to you? and how could you compare it to Durban life?

I don't know why, but most photos I see of the place don't seem to have many people about? Or is it perhaps that most are taken on holiday when everyone else is working? We've heard that nothing happens in Perth business wise, but then again we're hearing it from 3rd parties.

It would be great to get any feedback from you on your impressions of the place. Both POSITIVE :) and NEGATIVE :D .

Bye for now

Lisa

Hi Hayley

I am so glad to hear that you guys are there and enjoying it. We had all wondered where you were and if you had left yet for Australia. Since we last saw you, our visa's have been approved and Luke leaves in 2 months!!

Good luck, and please keep us up to date on your experience!!
