Ons het ‘n kar, ‘n bankrekening, ‘n huurhuis, selfoon, huisfoon en skole vir die kinders. Ons sou dit nie kon doen sonder Karl en Vanessa nie. Hulle het ons regtig bygestaan met hulp, raad en baie koffie en tee.Jaco sien die ambulansdienste die 26ste en ons meubels behoort volgende week te arriveer. Hopelik is ons broadband die einde van die week uitgesort. Intussen gebruik ons Karl hulle se internet of by die Biblioteek.Die aanpassing is nie te erg nie. They're a family with four kids, so get in touch as I'm sure you'll be able to share some good times and not so good times together.They dwell in Newton, I believe, not too far from Marius. . . . . . and the driving tests aren't all that bad. Like Bon daid on another thread it is remarkably colder this year. Some days there are no rain, yet th etemperature does not climb above 18 or so.But then, Adelaide beats Alberton or Bloemfontein any day of the week! jaxmvr Posted June 22, 2007 Author Report Share Posted June 22, 2007 Thank's for all your responses.The strangest thing here is that the small children only have kindergarten 4 days a week for 3 hours per day. The teacher nearly had a heart attack when I told her that we are used to 5 days a week from 8 to 1 and then afternoon play. I still need to get used to that.Bad experiences: I bought Marmite and it tasted like molasses straight from earth! Yuk. Then Vanessa told me to rather buy Promite. I did and it tasted a lot better. Otherwise everything is going ok. Our broadband is sorted and Jaco is busy with his theory test for the car lisence as we speak. I've told him that he must go first so that he can tell me what to expect. I will keep you posted. I'm also afraid of the parallel parking as I am short and always park too far from the pavement. I thought of asking the instructor if I can use a pillow to sit on. (Thought of getting a booster seat for myself but I do not think they will find that amusing. )Our ship is a week late but our furniture will get here eventually. The positive thing is that there are not much cleaning to do with us camping out for a while.We are going to the Afrikaans Service at the Dutch Reformed Church on Sunday. I heard about the phone card and will certainly make sure I get one. For now we use skype and chat away.Jaco went for his job interview at SA Ambulance and he need to either redo his whole qualification or look for other work. What a bummer!Oh well, we will keep our heads high and look into other job opportunities.Keep us in your prayers. With God on our side, we will certainly land a job sooner than later. Dit is maar moeilik, maar gelukkig is ek realisties en besef dat die lewe sy loop moet neem. We came over on my skills, but I thought it would be nice that if I can downscale a bit for the boys' sake. I will now actively look for a job and Jaco will then have to look in another area. He is interested in Cabinetmaking and Floor installations (hobby) so maybe we can look in that area. We will be ok, eventually. Just need to stay positive and keep praying.
