Ranger
I have tried to search function here without success. Is there anyone here applying or has successfully applied with any of the following qualifications? Myself: N.Dip Mechanical Engineering with 14 years experience in automotive parts manufacturing industry with titles varying from Manufacturing Engineering Technician, Quality Manager and Technical Plant Manager. I also spent a few years as a draughtsman with AutoCAD and Inventor. I have been out of that industry for 2 years now and currently own a small glass and aluminium business. My wife: B.Tech Graphic Design. Also around 15 years experience - she does mainly magazine adverts, logo design along with business branding and she has recently started web design. She also has a PGCE from UNISA but has not worked in that field (Foundation Phase). I'm basically trying to find out if we'd be wasting our time applying to immigrate to Aus based on our situation. I do realize that there are numerous, complex factors that would influence the outcome but I don't want to start the process and spend the time and money in applying if we stand no chance at all. We're both 40 and have a son and daughter, both under 2 years old. I'm English First Language, my wife Afrikaans First Language. Both are bilingual. Thanks in advance. First you need to determine if you are eligible to obtain a visa. For this, check if your position appears on the skills occupation list and where/how to apply for approval for your qualifications. Check if you can obtain all the points required. Your goal here is to get entry to Aus. You will have a better chance if you go to a regional area, but that bring its own challenges as many locals dont want to work in regional areas. Be careful to select those with 4 year stay, thus better to chase independent permanent visa type. Look into visa subclass 187, 186, 189, 190, 495; Graphic Designer 232411 Manufacturer 133411 https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder/work# https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list Getting a visa and being eligible for a visa is no gaurentee for a job. Thus, separate them. For this, identify and check if jobs similar to your skills get advertised and where. Note that job titles in Aus differ to those in RSA. Some jobs may require a trade qualification, which means you may need to obtain trade certification. Once you have a high level of confidence that you/her may obtain a visa then continue. Remember there is no gaurentee and rules change often. TeeTMI
Within the skilled visas there are a variety of employer nominated (482/186/494) and independent visas (189/190/491), some temporary some permanent, each with their own criteria. For the independent visas you would need at least 65 points relating to your circumstances, it can be harder to obtain points as you age, and state sponsorship may be required? https://www.taylormadeimmigration.com/Skilled_Points_Score Work experience points relate to work experience completed in the last 10 years related to the skilled occupation that you are nominating.
