juanz
We are arriving in Sydney on the 25th of June on our way to settle in Cairns. We have decided to spend a few days in Sydney and were wondering what suggestions you have for places to stay with a reasonable tariff. We are a family of four (two children aged 4 & 7).Thanks,Juan & Lyzette
SASydneysider
Hi Juanz,If you are going to be in Sydney for a few days only, my suggestion would be to live in the CBD. From there you will be able to visit most of the city sights like Darling Harbour, the opera house, the harbour bridge The Rocks, take special ferry rides to Manly and other places, Sydney harbour cruises, Aquarium etc. For accommodation in the city, your best bet would be to look on wotif or NeeditNow.The other option is to live in a self catering cabin in caravan parks. These parks are outside of the CBD in the suburbs and if you want to go into the city, you would need to catch buses and trains. Here are 2 Big 4 caravan parks which are 24kms and 38kms from the CBD. The Dural Village Caravan Park is another option and is approximately 45 minutes drive from the city. The benefit of living in cabins in a caravan park is the freedom the kids have to play outside at the play parks, then they don't feel couped up in a hotel or motel room. The down side is that you are further from the city centre and it would cost money to get transport to the city.SAS
Survival
Not sure what your budget but I will recommend the apartment the company put us in for the first month. It is opposite the opera house and big bridge in Kirribilli. Fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment close to everything, worth it if you want to enjoy Sydney. $1200 per week, unit 61/22 waruda street kirribilliwww.apartmentservice.com.au> email:info@apartmentservice.com.au> Phone +61 2 9953 7288

chester
I would suggest a caravan park, used to one in Brighton la Sands, Botany Bay, very close to the airport They had cabins for $500 a week along time ago. Transport to station by taxi +-$15/20 which is on the blue line takes you into the city. Lovely there. Will call them for details this afternoon.
