IELTS remark??

TEAM3REDEL

Question

Good evening

I recently wrote my IELTS academic. The results were released and I achieved an overall band of 7.5. I scored a 6.5 in writing which was the reason for this band score.

I require an overall band of 8 for my 189 visa application.

Should I consider a remark or is it better to take the test a second time?

Next available test date is 1 June 2019.

Has anyone applied for a remark of the exam with positive outcome?

What is the best recipe for success?

Much appreciated.

We went for the Remark, took very long and there was no change in the outcome. Writing is a common complaint with IELTS. We opted for PTE Academic and found it to be easier with regards to the writing  (this has been debated on other threads, purely my opinion).

Just remember, in order to claim 20 points for 189 you are required to score 8.0 in all 4 sections of the test. Even if you have a band score of 8.0, if you score 7.5 on one section and 8.0 and above for the rest you will only receive 10 points.

Thanks for the response Frosty.

Better to write the test again.

Good luck. Would suggest you do some proper studying for the writing section and find some good material online. We were unable to obtain higher than 7.0 for the writing with IELTS (all other sections were 9.0). After 3 attempts PTE-A was the next best option.
