Visa 864 application process

Blinkers-Off

Question

Hi there,

I am trying to get information on the Aged parent visa 864 application for my parents. (I have tried searching the forum but didn't find any recent information on this.)

I am trying to find out regarding the specific requirement that "one needs to be in Australia when you apply and also when the visa is granted"

What specifically does this mean?? How are they able to be here when it is applied for and then granted?

My parents are currently here visiting us on a 3 month tourist visa (Visa subclass 600) and we are wondering if we are able to apply now as they have their paperwork here.

But not sure how they could possibly be here when its granted as that would require knowledge of the grant date?

Do Immigration say your visa is about to be granted and they need to come here?? very confused.

Has anyone successfully applied for this visa?

Can one apply electronically?

I can't see an electronic option on the website.

https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/visa-1/864-#tab-content-1

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Gareth
