Medicals in Cape Town

I have received a job offer from a company in Australia and am in the process of applying for a 457 visa.

I need to do the medical examination, but the first available appointment that I can get is only on January 24th?!

Are there seriously only 2 practices that can do these examinations in Cape Town???  I have never seen anyone else comment on how long it takes to get an appointment, so I am wondering if I am missing something?  And typically, how long does it take to get the results?

I called on the 24th of August (2017) to book, and the earliest I could get was 12 September. I'd imagine there might be a backlog given the holiday season.

 

If I recall correctly, the results were available within a week.
