BarryHeyns
I somewhere read something about tax breaks you get for emigrating, I am not sure if this is on the SA side or Aus side? If there is anyone here with some more information about this could you please direct me to a link or something. Would like to read up on it. RichardH
In my first year Tax return after arriving in Australia I was able to claim relocation expenses and my airticket from SA to Perth because I was able to prove that I moved to take up a job. I secured employment from SA and had a written offer before I left South Africa. From the South African tax perspective I benefited a bit because I left at then end of June so my year earnings were lower than normal. Keep all your documentation and in your first year in Aus get a tax accountant to do your first tax return. 1
