I am on a 489 Visa in QLD, I need to accumulate 2 years worth of living in a remote area as well as a year's worth of Full Time work, minimum of 35 hours a week. But here's the thing: I am employed as a Full Time teacher (check) on a Fixed Term contract (ending this term, to be renewed next term) and the hours on my contract are 30... What now...? Anyone have the same situation? Anyone in the same situation with advise on what path to follow now? I don't want to get to the end of my live / work time, and I can't apply for PR because I haven't met the 35 hours of work a week. I spoke to the principal at the school and she advised me that a standard teaching contract is for 30 hours... Do I need to put in extra hours at the local bakery or News Agent???
