Miri84
Hi, we are at the final steps of finalizing our visa. We have done the medicals and now awaiting for final go ahead. it taking longer then expected and our layer advised us to write a motivational letter to the migration department to ask them to expedite the assessment. Has anyone experienced something like that ? could you share what we should say in this letter? Thank you so much!
RYLC
I'm interested to see the replies to this because that just doesn't sound right. Visas are decided on points not covering letters. This sounds like nonsense to me! What do you think @TeeTMI?
Miri84
the motivation letter is to speed up the process . so if normally it takes 2 weeks to assess but we haven't heard from the 4 weeks later , the letter to motivate to assess it ASAP. hope thats makes better sense. RYLC
@Miri84 there is no way to "speed up" the process with a "motivating" letter. Whoever has told you this is talking nonsense. The department works through applications in lodgement date order and there is no way to hurry them up with a letter. Everything is done by the book here. Australia is very regulated in its processes. They would never respond to a letter asking them to "hurry up". You have been given wrong advice. The only thing you can do is be patient like everybody else in the visa queue. There are support threads on here by month for people all in the "waiting room". You'll find moral support there I'm sure. Just search for 457 on the forum. For example this one:
Riekie
Miri, If that was the case, everyone would be writing motivational letters. Immigration law is applied pretty much to the letter. You're an application number, that's all - outcomes and the speed of processing are not affected by someone's heartfelt letter, unfortunately. I would not expect to hear back on a normal 457 visa within 4 weeks at the moment. The DIBP currently state that they process 75% of 457 applications within 86 days (95% of 457 applications within 6 months). There are circumstances when the DIBP will consider moving an individual application through the system quicker, however, a general motivational letter requesting to be put to the front of the queue, would generally not be sufficient. A lot do - which means that DIBP staff have to go through each request which slows processing further
RedPanda
@Miri84 sorry if this was not the answer you were looking for, but we'd rather give you the right information than pleasing false hope. If you want, you can read up about aspects of the process on the official Australian government website http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/457- This website is the official distributor of the 'rules' around immigration and visas, and what it says gets implemented by state departments. So you can believe it. Edited March 30, 2017 by RedPanda (words missing/grammar)
Riekie
Just wondering who this lawyer is (and if he's even a registered migration agent...) You'd think he'd know better that.
