TakeItOnTheChin
My Container will leave to Oz in a month or so. I heard or read somewhere that fridges were not worth taking due to the conversion required, etc, is that true? Would it be the same for a chest freezer? I was also wondering about gas bottles (empty ofcourse), the smaller type used for skottles, etc (Cadac), can these be filled in Oz or do they have different connections there? Any advice appreciated
HadEnoughofJuju
The only conversion required for a fridge and chest freezer would be the conversion of plugs. The electricity supply here is exactly the same (sorry no better as it's always on) as in RSA. The only reason you may have to leave them behind is if they are not CFC free ones. In that case dump em and buy new ones here. As for gas bottles, I doubt very much whether your shipping company will allow you to even put them in the container to start with. They are classified as dangerous goods as well as pressurised vessels. That and the fact that all the fittings here are different anyway. You can bring the gas equipment with but it will mean buying some sort of adapter to make them work with the Aus bottles. TakeItOnTheChin
Thanks mate, thought as much, dumping them makes sense!!
rozellem
Do bring the actual skottel, its just the gas bottle that you need to buy here. You will then buy a special attachment to connect the new gas bottle to your old skottel. They can be bought at RSA shops here. No big deal.
Riekie
CFC Free Fridges and Cadac BBQ's are fine. Don't bring the gas bottles (empty or not).
Garet
Just received my gas bottle conversion and it is too small for my Weber Q braai or the LPG gas bottle. It looks like the SATOOZ converter is for small gas canisters. Does anyone know where to find converters for larger 8.5kg type bottles
