Moving interstate.

Has anyone recently moved from Melbourne to Brisbane who can give an estimation on costs etc and the best way to go about it. We have kept our furniture to a minimum. We are a family of 4 with two cats.  Any tips would be great.  Wondering if shipping is a cheaper option and if this is possible?

Thanks :)

It is always a good idea to check with the moving companies in Brisbane, if they perhaps have a load coming to Melbourne, then you can fall in with their timeline and ship your stuff as a return load with them. This always appears to be cheaper.

I moved from Perth to Brissie and it cost a lot. Melbourne to Brissie should be cheaper. Do as Mara says. Also, you can save a ton by driving up, if that is your cup of tea.

We have got a few quotes, for a 20ft size house, the removal people have said between $3000- $5000 door to door from Perth to Brisbane. Cars from $500-$1000 & then obviously need to pay for registration that side.

Hope that helps? Haven't confirmed as yet but these are estimates!

Thank you everyone, that helps a great deal.  We are more than happy to drive up.  SML, when you say cars from 500-1000 is that to transport them over to Brisbane?

Alot of companies do backloading with other transportation companies who are already taking items to Queensland. This is a much cheaper option. Good luck with the move and your new life in Brisbane?

When we transported our car from Melbourne to Perth recently it cost us $1300 with items in the car option. We were able to pack quite alot if stuff in the car. We sold what we had in Melbourne and started afresh here.?
