Meet the family making small a better way to live

Our home is on the front cover of the June issue of Australian Home Ideas Magazine out now at most newsagents and Coles.

It's a 7-page spread on our journey from our suburban home in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa to a bustling Inner City Suburb of Sydney, Australia.

The feature documents moving from our 3-bedroom suburban house into a 2-bedroom city apartment and features my tips on decluttering, downsizing and embracing the 'simple' life while making the most of small space living.

Cheers

@AFreshStart Matt that's not nearly enough of a back story.  How on EARTH did you get yourselves into a magazine.  Come on - details!!

Oh and I forgot to say - CONGRATS!

PS Do we get the inside scoop of what Ikea furniture you used or is that in the magazine.  I'm a huge Ikea fan at this stage of our kids' lives

Ha Ha, thanks @RYLC to answer your first question - right time, right place.

I'm an interior stylist and have a diploma in interior design, but am also a journalist and wrote for lifestyle magazines like VISI, Elle Decor & House & Leisure in South Africa. Naturally you'd think I'd go into that here in Aus, but no, I'm now in Digital Marketing, it just so happens a journalist saw some pics of our apartment pics on Facebook, reached out, wrote an article, pitched it to some magazines here and low and behold we are the feature story in this month's Australian Home Ideas Magazine.

Second question, yes, our home features a lot of IKEA bits, the kids rooms in particular. It's all in there, down to ranges and products, even paint colours, carpet colours and kitchen counter tops.

Cheers

It's not "back home" any more - perhaps we could call it "the old country"?

To be fair, she did put it in quotes.

I use the term "back in the third world", but it's a bit long.

I've got a PDF of the article, send me your e-mail address via PM and I'll be happy to send it on once it's off the shelf.

Cheers
