Usha
Hi All, I have been looking at one way flights in July from JHB to Camberra (stop in Sydney). while Qantas baggage allowance is 30kgs, SAA shows 2 bags for an adult each not exceeding 23kgs. has anyone used SAA recently to get to AUS? is that 2 bags per adult correct?........meaning you have 46kgs?
LaurenP
Hey Usha, I flew SAA towards the end of last year and I took two bags without a problem. Just check the baggage allowance on any connecting flights you might have so that you don't get caught out with overweight fees
Guest
Hi Usha, there was a thread about this very subject not long ago as the SAA website was rather confusing. Just to set your mind at ease though yes you are allows 2 bags per person @23kg each. A total of 46kgs but neither if the bags must exceed 30kg. We came back to Melbourne in December with SAA and all 3 of us had 2 suitcases each (6 bags in total). Plus hand luggage plus laptop bag. Had so much we needed our friends to pick us up in 2 cars ? Usha
Thanks! I read the thread and that was over the baggage allowance on IOM, I didn't know that SAA also offered 2 bags with that weight as well. So I guess the next thing for me to do is check the ticket price through IOM vs SAA.

FairGo
Hi, I also want to make a booking through IOM. Do you perhaps know what is the email address to which I can send flight booking enquiries?

miran
It seems more airlines are allowing extra baggage. Etihad also allows 2x23kg big bags and 7kg hand luggage. Our experience was that tickets through IOM were more expensive than direct with Etihad. We didn't mind the extra hours in the air, but I know some people prefer the quickest trip.
