Sparkling wine - What is the Aussie equivalent of Method Cap Classique?

Looking to celebrate getting my first job and am looking to buy a bottle of bubbly. I am a bit of a wine snob so I am looking for bubbles from fermentation instead of CO2 injection.

BrendanH,

MCC is traditional "Champagne Style", there are many Champagnes available here made in that style, from France.

Moet, Tattinger & Verve are all readily available, most NV's run $45-$70 a bottle and a vintage bottle of Dom is around $250.

Cheers

Matt

If you want to go local many of the Tasmanian wines are made in a Champagne style (cooler climate), similar pricing though...

The words you are looking for are

méthode champenoise

Cheers

Thanks Matt,

Did some talking to the guy at the BWS store and he mentioned that more Aussie Vintners are calling it méthode traditionnelle due to the EU getting sticky about champenoise.

Will be trying the Méthode Traditionnelle Chandon Brut tonight.
