So far on my list: Id and Passport Grant Letters Police Clearances Drivers Licence CV / Resume Degrees and Certificates Reference Letters from Employers Letter from Landlord Medical slips for submitting return to SARS from Aus Not sure to take with: PLEASE ASSIST Employment contracts with previous employers Payslips Previous lease agreement If there's anything I've left off please add! 0 OubaasDik
Every piece of information you have about pension / preservation funds, endowment policies, annuities and ALL your RSA money. Ask me - it tends to get lost and can be EXTREMELY difficult to track down.
0 Charne
Thanks OubaasDik, I don't have any of those. Do you see any value in taking old South African payslips and contracts with?
0 Mel-B
Payslips are proof of claimed experience I guess? Two companies my husband worked for years ago have closed. The only real proof he has left of that employment period are old payslips. We are taking our with for that reason. YOU NEVER KNOW!
0 Jordy
Vaccination cards if you have children Insurance letter saying you have not claimed in x number of years (although I was never asked for this as they just trusted I wasnt lying) Last Will and Testaments (although you will have to redo this in Australia)
0 Peterthe1
I would say bring everything that relates to your life in SA. You will be starting a new life here and may need all the information from your old life. We all know how hard it is to get any paperwork sent from SA. One that a lot of the older people forget about is your military discharge papers. I applied for these from outside SA, what a pain in the ....! I was asked for these when I applied for my Visa.
0 OubaasDik
Fortunately the supervisor at my Dad's Old Age home had contacts and got them for me, or I'd still be waiting.
0 Hope
Hi Charne Thank you for the list. I have one too, will be moving end of March 2016 and likewise I want to be thorough. I also noticed Unabridged birth certificate for myself not minors, can anyone confirm the need for this? I will make copies regardless.Like Charne, I was also wondering is it necessary to bring along previous lease agreements?
