Hi there. We have recently decided to try and obtain a visa so that we can move to Australia. We have two girls, one aged 3 and the other one 6.  I've found this forum a week ago, and I've spent hours reading posts already! I find the people on the forum very friendly and helpful.

I have loads of questions, so I hope you guys here would be able to assist! We have decided to attempt the process ourselves without an agent.

See you soon

Welcome! All the best with your application! We did it on our own as well and it was scary but worth it in the end :jester:

It depends on how straightforward or complicated your application is. I did ours myself and had zero hassles (from the Aussies, DHA is a different story, but you have to deal with them regardless of using an agent). But we had a really simple application.

All the information is available online, on the government website, and from the skills assessing authorities, it just takes time and effort to get it all together. But if you are willing and able to do it, it will save you a considerable amount of money.

Oh ja...Welcome to the forum!!! :D

Thank you everyone. At times I get so excited about the prospects, but then I'm all depressed again when I see how long the process takes. Will have to start at DHA for the birth certificates. Was there on Friday morning...absolute nightmare. I have never seen such long queues!

If its of any consolation just remember that everyone on this forum, who went the initial independent PR application route, had to go through this. For some it took from 2 years to +4 years to get that evasive visa. The sad part is also for many it didn't materialise after all the effort.

As with most things, just keep the end goal in mind.

The sooner you get the ball rolling, the sooner you will know if you're application is going to be successful. Don't procrastinate!  Also remember that if you do get turned down there is an appeal process which you can follow to contest the decision. Good luck with your application.

We had minor complexities, so used Stephen Dickson (SD_MOA on this forum), which was a great move.

Between him and the all the great support and advise on the forum, we survived with our nerves almost intact ?
