Queensland School Fees on 457 Visa

Hi,

I have seen a few web sites stating there are no school fees in Queensland for public schools for 457 visa holders, but these posts are a bit old:

Has anyone moved to Brisbane (or anywhere in Queensland) on a 457 visa recently. Is it still the case that we wouldn't pay school fees?

457 holder do not pay school fees in Queensland.

I am aware that the current state government has recently looked at the issue and continue to monitor the situation around the country

18Years is right, my wife did some enquiries at both a state primary and high school for friends of ours coming over on a 489 regional sponsored visa (which is fairly similar in its restrictions to a 457 only you are sponsored by the state and not an employee) and both gave her the same answer. The only fees tou pay are what they call rego fees or resource fees but no school fees.

Some of the subjects in high school mat carry additional fees like photography or music but in general not. The only students who pat astronomical fees are students here on foreign student visas which are mainly kids from diplomatic households or here on some kind of exchange program.

I also emailed a couple of the school before OYBR did the research and that is exactly what they said... or we would need to pay $100 per year (yes per year)

Private school is different of course but that would be the same in any country
