This topic makes me laugh, we cleaned our stuff a little bit before moving from the UK.

But then we got stuff over that was in storage in South Africa for nearly 5 years - we asked Pickfords to clean it as there were lawnmowers etc. but they didn't do it.

The only thing customs confiscated was a cat travel box. Our dirty lawnmower, garden tools and a HALF FULL GAS BOTTLE arrived here without any issues!!

Smegs definitely sold here. You may have to replace some of the connectors. My only real comment is that if you are going to rent for a bit I wouldnt bother as the smeg will either cost you a bomb in storage or take up a significant portion of your garage.
