190 Visa Canberra

HI everybody,

Fairly new to the forum and have learnt so much. We are awaiting approval for our state sponsorship and are hoping to be in Canberra in the next 6 months (holding thumbs).

Some advice please - we are concerned that we will not be able to find suitable accomodation in Canberra as we have no family/ friends there. I do have family in Sydney. Not sure of the conditions of the visa? Would we be able to stay in Sydney for maybe 2 weeks with family while we look for accomodation, buy a vehicle etc.?

SS means you have to settle here, but if you want to travel Oz for a month or stay in Sydney for a couple of weeks, it would be ok. The visa means that when you settle permanently, then it has to be ACT

Have you looked at the Canberra Motor Village? We stayed there once and although not the cheapest, they have a very nice swimming pool that was a lifesaver for us with kids. Its small but perfectly functional and clean

We will be arriving in Canberra on the 3rd of February (after a week holiday in Sydney) and will be staying at the Alivio Tourist Park. By far the cheapest. go to www.booking.com and search for holiday/shirt term accommodation Canberra. You get quite a spread of available accommodation in Canberra.
