humwill
HiMy husband is working in a small practice in Brisbane and managed to get the job by sending is cv with a covering e mail to all the accounting practices in our area, there is a website called accountantlist.com.au which shows all accounting practices per suburb. Of 130 e mails he received 2 interested replies and managed to get a interview and secured a 3 month trial contract which turned into a permanent position. He completed the CTA 1 course which he thinks may have helped him a little bit in getting the position but was very useful in doing the work. Individual tax is a large portion of the practice's income here, much more so than in SA. He has registered with CPA Australia and has 6 subjects to do as far as the theory goes and needs to do 3 years training as well to qualify as a CPA. You can apply for previous recognized experience for your time in SA which he is yet to do. So it is a long process but he thinks worth it in the long run.
