Strategy to find contacts for employment/contracts/sponsors

The following approach requires lots of homework but may provide a wealth of opportunities too many.

One approach to consider is to look what tenders and contracts have been awarded to whom. Which contractors / tenderers lodged their expression of interest for specific jobs. Then by looking at whom already won tenders you may know which company/supplier will start to look for resources to actually do the job.

This is where your opportunity may come in.

Project Connect is a website that link suppliers and buyers to large project opportunities. Available here:

http://www.projectconnect.com.au/index.asp

a) Select project opportunities by working through the website and list the opportunities that already have recent tenders allocated eg. http://www.projectconnect.com.au/Project_Preview.asp?PID=20780231

B) Select those opportunities that aligns well with your skills and experience by evaluating the 'Full Package Description"

c) If there is some alignment then look at "View" Tenderers/Supplier for their contact details. Check if you can find their website from the email address and check what they do as a business.

d) Determine what is your Selling Proposition and how you will be able to satisfied their needs on that specific contract by understanding what business they do and need to do.

e) Remember that they may perhaps not need any additional resources - but you wont know until you ask them.

f) When you contact them start of slow, ask questions and try to identify their challenges, needs, urgency etc without interrogating them :-)

g) Prior to the call/contact ensure you know what information you want to convey, how you want to be perceived and what you are looking for, what questions you are going to ask, when to ask if they employ and when to offer your expertise.

Lastly, post and share your experience (wins and losses) on saaustralia.org for others to learn from, short cuts and better ways than what I have suggested above. If it happened that you are (not) successful then help other to be, you never know where your next opportunity may come from.

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing. I think you presented some good strategy. One has to be innovative, preemptive and marketable in a very competitive job market... B)
