Does anyone know of a good paediatrician that bulk bills? We have 6 month old infants one with severe reflux so i would like to know where reliable and good drs may be located if possible.Thanks very much! Mara Posted January 4, 2013 Report Share Posted January 4, 2013 I am just guessing here, but you will probably not be able to go to a paediatrician directly, without a referral from a GP. So my suggestion is then to find a GP that bulk bills, go and see him/her and then ask him/her for a referral to a paediatrician that bulk bills. rozellem Posted January 5, 2013 Report Share Posted January 5, 2013 Hi, I have personally never heard of a bulk billing paedi. Like Mara says, there are bulk billing GPs, some specializing in kids. Sorry, I dont know of any, I still need to start looking for a GP after moving areas in Aug. Luckily my kids have only seen a paedi once, when they were born, as it is not the norm for healthy Aussie kids to see a paedi unless their GP feels there is mayor concern. And as Mara said specialists don't do bulk billing.That said if you ask around you will hopefully be able to find a good GP that specialises in kids, although I've found the good GPs don't bulk bill either but you can normally claim half from Medicare.Also try and get into contact with your Maternal Health Clinic in you area as soon as you can. These are nurses who do regular check ups on babies and weigh and measure them. They will definitely be able to give you advice regarding your baby's reflux and also guide you with regards to services and support available to you in your area. Do not worry too much, I always feel taken care of here regarding my baby's health and well being!And hopefully your baby will grow out of it soon, one of my daughters had it and it disappeared at around a year and got much better once she was on solids a few times a day. Try the St Ives General Medical Practice - Dr Kamilla Urbaniak - 9449 5999 is especially good with children.Re Pediatricians :Dr Anthony Underwood 9418 1388 great re reflux he is Pymble based. You could also have a look at Dr Robert Harwick 02 9473 8660, Dr Neil Ginsberg 9489 8455, Dr Des Cohen 9482 8881You will need a referral, from the GP. Tell the GP which PD you want to see, possibly ask for two letters in case you can't get in. You can also ask recommendation. The more documentation you can bring from your current doc the better. None of the PD's bulk bill.When you try to book your PD don't be timid on the phone. If urgent they will fit you if not you can wait up to a month more to get in.
