Travel insurance for holidays in South Africa on 457 visa

Kas

Question

Hi all,

Just thought this information might be helpful to any of you going back to South Africa for a holiday. We received various quotes for travel insurance all at around $1000. I think if you are a permanent resident or an Australian citizen you can get insurance at much lower prices, but we are on a 457 visa. We then got a quote from Santam in South Africa and it is going to come to less than R3000 (waiting for final quote). A huge saving!!!

Hope this helps some of you.

You can get travel insurance as a tempory resident you have not state how long you are going for or your ages, but most reputable companies will cover you when travelling abroad

Yes you can get travel insurance as a temporary resident, but we couldn't find a quote under $1000. We are getting it in SA for under R3000 - so we're saving almost $700 - quite a big saving!
