Excited Newbies

Good day all,

We have been praying and debating this issue for 2 years and we have finally made the big decision to immigrate to Australia in the near future (hopefully). My husband is an electrician and I am an attorney that specialise in short term insurance.

I browsed through Aussie jobs and it's so refreshing not to see the dreaded BBBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEE everywhere.

We have a little girl, she just turned one and she is the main reason for our decision, we have to secure a better, safer future for her.

My parents are in the nuclear industry in South Africa and both might be jobless in the near future so we hope that they will be able to join us with "Ouma and Oupa" privileges after the first 2-3 years.

It's still early days; we've been reading, researching and planning mostly. We just contacted an agent (that we found on this website), who said we stand a good chance of getting a 190 Skilled State Nominated Visa.

I find the forums very informative and interesting and hope to share and learn a lot in future.

Yvette

Welcome Yvette!

Good luck with your journey. Before signing with an agent do your research! Many people have had bad experiences, but many have had great experiences with their agents.

I have done both, and must tell you that agents really aren't necessary. All the info is on the immigration site. I know it's daunting to do it yourself but that's where this forum helps. Mostly someone has been through exactly what you are going through and can answer questions. Agents take months to process your files and they cost an extra R 25 000 or more.

Be careful! Good luck!

Thank you for the heads-up Elmarie. Im just so scared we do someting wrong and then we have to do it all over again? We've decided to use Migrate2Oz and read very good review about them, especially on these forums. I hope they aren't the ones who gave you trouble? :-(

No, they aren't! I don't know them. And I understand your fear, that's also Why I went for agents in the first place! If you can afford it and it makes you feel more secure, go for it! Good luck!

Migrate2Oz were brilliant. It still took a while but that's due to DIAC. They would always call to keep you in the loop and if you called they would always be willing to help or call back soon if they were busy. After 3 attempts (2 through agents, 1 without) I had given up all hope.

My friend suggested Migrate2Oz and they assured me they wouldn't take anyone on if they didn't think their chances were good (99%!!).

Needless to say I am in Aus, grateful to be here and would highly recommend these agents. They also have a branch in Australia.

Welcome and all the best! At this stage it feels like a mountain but believe me soon enough you will sit on top of that mountain and look down and smile!

I trust you'll make it to Australia. . . . . . and that you'll Emigrate from South Africa and IMmigrate to Australia. . . . that you'll be IMmigrants once in Australia.

We used Migrate2Oz and were very happy.

My husband is an electrician so if you need to know anything just send me a message.

I know the skills assesment can be very daunting but it is not that bad especially if you know what you are doing ;)

We are just waiting for our meds to finalised and then our visa will be approved.

Good luck.

Agreed with everyone else, welcome and you won't go wrong with Migrate2Oz. They were exceptionally helpful and even after your visa you get invited to free seminars and all sorts of things. Good luck with your process and I hope it goes smooth and doesn't take too long

Hi Yvette

This is probably the best decision you will ever make for both you and your children's futures. I don't see much of a future for my child here and that is the main reason we have decided to do this. Stick it out and never give up no matter what. This is far from an easy process, but it's one that is well worth the effort and money. :ilikeit:
