JayNBee: Hello everyone

We are Bill & Juanita Crawford, currently living in Woodgrange-on-Sea on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.

We are a married couple without any children (apart from the dogs!), and we have recently made the decision to leave the country and try for our first choice, Australia.

Having read through tons of documentation on a multitude of websites, we think we should try for the 136 visa. Over the last couple of days we have started assembling our documentation for the Skills Assessment.

Any advice and help will be MUCH appreciated - we are feeling HUGELY overwhelmed facing this daunting task!

This looks like the place to introduce ourselves, so will now go to another forum and post our questions!

Bye for now,

Bill & Juanita

Welcome Bill and Juanita, I hope that you get answers to all your questions here!

Please remember, the first thing to apply for, unabridged birth certificate for each of you and an unabridged marriage certificate. It can take quite a while to get hold of them. If you have problems try www.bunnyhop.co.za they will get it for you quickly, for a fee of course!

Welcome to the forum - you will get answers to nearly all your questions here :P

Will you be bringing your pets with you?

Good luck with all the paper work

Thanks very much, everyone, for the warm hellos. Most welcome at a time when we are feeling very intimidated, and all alone in the world, by the process we have to go through!

Well, we have 10 dogs, some of them geriatrics, so unfortunately we will not be able to bring them all. It is an awful, awful thing for us to have to make this decision. We are hoping to bring 4 if we raise enough money, but might have to settle on just 2.

Can anyone give us a ballpark figure on what 4 would cost? We are thinking of 6 months here and 1 month in Aussie. They are Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

Bye for now,

Juanita

Hi guys and welcome. Here is a link to the Dept. of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forrestry that determines quarantine rules for pets coming to Australia:

http://www.affa.gov.au/content/output.cfm?...ontType=outputs

We did not bring our cat (Mom in law adopted her), but lots of other people on the forum have brought their pets over successfully. It is very expensive and one of the biggest worries for pet owners.

Do not be put off or daunted by all the red tape.

You WILL make it if you truly want to! :( Good luck, keep on the forum, and do all the work 'happie vir happie'.
