Hi everyone ! any tips on where one can hire a car for longterm, lets say month-and-a-half in Adelaide ? how soon after arrival did you purchase a car and did you go second hand or new ?

Car rental can become very expensive very soon, especially when you add full insurance (which has helped me in the past when someone smashed the back lights)

We bought a second hand Toyota on the second or third day after arriving and it has served us very well. If you don't want to buy a car for the long term a cheaper option might be to get a cheapie for a month or two and then sell it again - you should be able to sell it for the same price, or maybe a little less but it will be far cheaper than renting. Just make sure you get one with a registration that won't expire soon because it too is very expensive. We pay around $860 per year for our car license.

We rented a car for 17 days and paid $570 in total.. It's really expensive and much better to rather try and buy a cheapie asap..

We bought our Ford Festiva at a used dealer and paid $3000 and there is nothing wrong with it. Drives like a charm and still in a great condition!

I will send you suggestions on used dealers via pm. When will you be arriving again?

Small ads in advertiser will get you a lot of cheapies, but good quality cars for around $8000.00
