Chocolate
Hi there,I was wondering if perhaps I could change from my chemical laboratorybackgound to teaching Science. I have a B.Sc, (from way back!)and manyyears of experience. I am in my early 40's, and I know that I will have to study a post-grad teaching course of some sort to be able to do this. Has anyone gone this route? How easy would it be to get a teaching position without teaching experience?Looking forward to reading your thoughts on this, thanks.ChocolatePS The post-grad teaching course to be done in Sydney, not South Africa
joweni
This very do-able! Check out all the uni sites .I know that here in South Australia you can do a masters in teaching (1 year full time or two years part time)at Flinders University but check out all the other universities sites as they are sure to offer similar courses. Bring lots of proof of your previous experience-when you are qualified this may help you to get a higher rate of pay but you will be snapped up very very quickly. Good science teachers are VERY hard to find and I imagine many of the independent schools would be knocking at your door so halfway through your studies start e-mailing them.Actually come to thin of it friends of mine were offered a visa from a private school as they teach science and maths and I believe the school even helped pay for their tuition at uni-now there's a thought ...............
