conradnel Posted February 27, 2011 Report Share Posted February 27, 2011 Hi aan almal wat dit al tot daar gemaak het, en ook vir DIE wat nog (soortvan, soos ek) sukkel, maar dit nou lyk of daar lig is aan die einde van die tonnel!Ek en my vrou (Gerda) het aansoek gedoen vir PR einde 2008. Ons is gekniehalter deur die resessie en my beroep wat van die skills list verdwyn het. Die agent wat ons gebruik in Brisbane het my einde Jan laat weet dat haarkappers nou weer op die skills list is vir state sponsorship in Suid-Australie, en ek het dadelik weggespring om ALS van voor af reg te kry. My IELTS was reeds gedoen Jul 2008 en dus moes ek dit WEER gaan oordoen! Nie dat dit 'n probleem was nie, maar ek kan nie dink WIE daai geldjies ini sak steek nie! R1900!!! Anyway, ek het gelukkig vinnig plek gekry om te gaan skryf in Johannesburg, so ek kry my resultate Woensdag 2 Maart, waarna my agent so GOU moontlik vir state sponsorship sal lodge... en dan hoop ons vir die beste. Net byse dat ons processing priority met state sponsorship van kategorie 4 NA 2 toe opskuif! Ek het nog steeds GEEN idee wat die timeframe is vir hierdie aansoeke nie... weet iemand? Ons wil vestig vir die eerste 2 jaar in Adelaide (SA state sponsorship), en moontlik daarna by my suster-hulle aansluit in Brisbane, maar sal sien as die tyd kom...Ons het September laasjaar 'n seuntjie (Levi-Evan) ryker geword, so hy word (sover ek verstaan) letterlik net by ons aansoek aangeheg. Ons het nog nie regtig gaan loer wat die werksomstandighede is rondom onderwys nie. My vrou is 'n onderwyseres by learskool vir die afgelope 9 of 10 jaar. Sy het biki gesukkel met haar kwalifikasie herkenning na die plek waar sy geswot het hul akkreditasie verloor het. Sy het toe Graad geswot in Teologie omdat dit die enigste kollege (Hebron Teologiese Kollege JHB) was wat bande gehad het met die plek waar sy destyds geswot het. Nou moet sy 'n na-graadse kursus of iets swot om dit Graad vir onderwys te maak, maar ons tyd gaan waarskynlik dit nie toelaat om hier te swot nie, en met OBE wat nou ook hier misluk het, dink ons sy moet maar in Aus kyk WAT hulle daar vereis. As enige iemand kan help en of kontak het met onderwyser/s wat raad kan gee sal dit great wees!Ek is tans besig om vorms te voltooi vir die state sponsorship, so as ENIGIEMAND enige raad het VOOR ek lodge sal ek baie waardeer. Enige advies of raad of watookal ek moet weet van Adelaide, behuising, beste bank om te gebruik ens... (iets naastenby aan Standardbank sal great wees! Banks - they are all much of a muchness the big 4 are Commonwealth, Westpac, ANZ and National Australia Bank (NAB)- you can open an account with them before you move and then pick up your cards when you arrive. They are very efficient and a complete contrast to South African banking and the I know nothing and dont want to even consider helping approach. Then there are also smaller Credit Unions I think they work a bit like the building societies of old in South Africa. There are branches of the major banks all over, a ready supply of ATM's and of course you can pay for most things via your bank card and even draw cash at the supermarket tills so you are not dependent on having an ATM on your doorstep. Your best bet would probably be to go with one of the major banks to start off and once you get your head around things change to a credit union or one of the smaller banks if that suits you better.Sorry cant advise regarding the teaching but did read somewhere that there is an oversupply of primary teachers in South Australia especially in the cities so that people are having difficulty getting permanent roles and are stuck donig relief teaching or have to take contracts in the country towns. May be worth her making contact with the various universities here in South Australia to find out who does courses and what she would need to do to convert her course. Not sure if you are going on a permanent residency visa or the 475 provisional residency visa cause that will also make a difference as to whether you will need to pay international fees for studying. Was just wondering I know that many of the teaching colleges in South Africa got absorbed by the universities e.g. JCE was taken over by Wits, so its possible that your wife's college's accreditation was transferred to one of the universities. So maybe the Department of Education could provide you with the relevant info and save her having to redo her teaching qualification.Otherwise Adelaide is a small city or large country town depending on how you look at things. It is a very family oriented city with heaps of parks (the city centre is ringed by parklands). There is always something on - the fringe is on at the moment, and Clipsal the big motor sport event is coming and we have just had the tour down under cycle race. It is very quiet and laid back with beaches, hills, wineries and Haigh's chocolate (just in case your family are chocaholics). Housing - everyone has their preferences, North, South, Beach or hills it is more about what you are looking for lifestyle wise and then people can recommend areas. Apart from a couple of areas which are often in the press due to undesireable activities most suburbs are a mixture of good and bad and it is more a case of going to see where a place is and seeing whether that is somewhere you want to live. Are you going to be using public transport? If so being on a GO Zone is handy (guaranteed a bus every 15 minutes during peak periods). There are also good train services going to the Southern suburbs and the O'Bahn a bus on rails system (think train but a bus) which goes to the North Eastern suburbs and which provides a rapid link to the city. Houses in Adelaide range from the ultra modern MacMansions to the old 1900's villa types which are being renovated and modernised inside whilst maintaining their original exterior. NicciG Posted February 28, 2011 Report Share Posted February 28, 2011 Hi ConradKan nie help met die onderwysvraag nie, maar re julle State Sponsorship aansoek: daar is 'n gedeelte wat vra hoekom Suid-Australie. Wax lyrical my vriend! Soos mens in outydse Afrikaans sou se, kruip 'n bietjie. Doen bietjie navorsing oor Suid-Australie en noem wat julle gesin geval in die area. Hulle hou daarvan om te hoor hoe nice dit hier is. Ons het die fout gemaak om na ons eerste agent (wat vinnig gefire is) te luister toe hy se dis net 'n paper exercise, so moenie moeite doen met daardie deel nie, toe word ons eerste aansoek afgekeur! Darem niks geld gekos nie, maar het 'n verdere 30 dae tot ons wag gevoeg. Met die tweede aansoek het ek 'n opstel aageheg by die aansoek. Adelaide is werklik lekker, maar baie groter as wat ek verwag het. Ons is van Port Elizabeth en ek kan met alle eerlikheid se dat Adelaide omtrent so 3 keer PE se grootte is. Dis nou nie Johannesburg nie, maar dis BAIE groot vir iemand wat op 'n plattelandse dorpie groot geword het. Argitektuursgewys, is Adelaide 'n kombinasie van PE, Bloemfontein, Grahamstad, so bietjie wynroete vir good measure en natuurlik 'n bietjie "guntown" (wys vir my 'n stad wat nie 'n slegte gedeelte het nie). Ons was ook van plan om na 2 jaar 'n skuif te maak na Melbourne of Gold Coast, maar het na 6 maande hier besluit dat ons nie uit Adelaide wil weggaan nie. Ons agent in Brisbane lodge vandag online, en pos dan die res van die nodige dokumente Adelaide toe. Dit sal Dinsdag daar aankom, en dan is dit net WAG... Ek het myself al belowe ek gaan nie weer te gou opgewonde raak nie, want na die laaste opgewondenheid het ons 2jaar en 3maande gewag tot nou... Maar hierdie keer lyk dinge net meer belowend. Sal julle op hoogte hou. Kan iemand my enige idee gee hoeveel Suid-Afrikaners daar in Adelaide is? Klink net nie of daar so baie van ons mense is nie.... Maar wat, ons sal die beste daarvan maak!HiDis nou wel derdehandse informasie (he said, she said kind of thing), maar ek het gehoor hier's so ongeveer 6 000 oud Suid Afrikaners in Adelaide. Moet vir jou se dat ons in die afgelope 6 maande wat ons hier is, 3 keer vreemdelinge hoor Afrikaans praat het (buiten die sowat 10 lotte oud Suid-Afrikaners wat ons ken). Nou is dit DIAC wat ons aansoek met 'priority 2 processing' moet doen. My agent het my die 16 Junie wakker gebel uit AUS om te se ons PR is goedgekeur!Nou vir die groot besluite... wat gaan saam, hoeveel gaan saam, wat word verkoop, en wat word WEGGEGOOI!Ons sal Adelaide 'tref' Maart 2012!!!
