Spider
hi all, those that work full time, how do you meet new people, not just saffers, anyone really and make new friends? We have a 20month old, both work full time etc, and we have 2 couples as friends, but would like to get to know others as well coz its kinda lonely having almost no friends after nearly a yearwe start ballet tomorrow so hopefully that will help too
Heymanse
I've met a lot of new people (albeit almost all of them expats from SA) at church. They then in turn introduced me to other people whom they've made friends with. It is quite harder when you're working full time and especially for me having my kids all grown up already makes it even harder. Luckily, I met me new sister (SA expat) at church and she is my best friend for life now.
Esthee
Hi Chandi,I came across this website where you can find social groups that do things together once a month or so. You do get some strange interest groups here, but its a good place to find a bookclub, social club etc. http://www.meetup.com/
Jongman
I joined the gym and I have never looked back. I would say that 80% of my friends are all like minded people that I met at the gym.
zoot
I have been to a few of the meetup group get togethers and you get a range of ages, nationalities and interests attending. I know there are a few members that have young children so they may be interested in a get together. It is pretty flexible if you are a member of the group and you see something that you think may be of interest to others just suggest it and see how many takers you get. There is also the newcomers network meetings which has meetings once a month or so I think one is a social type event, meet for drinks and the other is more of an info session.
