Hi Otto

At Perth airport on my way home from my last trip to Aus:

The airport is so small that I checked with the security guard that there was a toilet inside the international departure hall - I think that set them off. I was hauled out and tested for explosives - not a v pleasant experience! I was also selected out of hundreds (exaggerating) to have my hand luggage weighed (do I look like a big shopper?!) and had the obligatory "crotch sniff" from a large dog. The fascinating thing about all the "officialdom" is that it is done professionally and courteously, and every encounter is punctuated with please, thank you, and a smile (however brief). What a contrast to JHB International

Anyway Otto - I digress - good luck, glad you made it and hope to hear all your new news soon! :ilikeit:

Home is now Griffith NSW, and so far everything is good here. People are friendly and helpful, and compared to the RSA, it is easy to settle in here.

Found a nice house to rent yesterday - a HUGE house at $230 a week, much larger than we were used to in SA. The only thing I would have done differently is not to leave the wife back home for a month or two, this time apart is not worth it.

Otto, vasbyt - ek weet hoe moeilik dit is. My man het eerste oorgekom, toe ek en my dogter en daarna my seun.

You won't believe how quickly time will pass and you will be with your wife again. For us the 52 days apart was worth it and being back together again is like another honeymoon !!!! :ilikeit:

Otto,

I had a friend arrive here in December and his family 2 weeks ago. It was tough but still worth it he thinks. I was lucky enough to arrive here with my family. Byt maar vas, the new future will be well worth the wait :ilikeit: . Short term sacrifice for long term gain.

Hang in there
