 Hi, I have been looking and looking for employment with a sponsorship, but no one seems to be interested in helping you immigrate. I can't afford the HUGE cost of an immigration agent. I keep getting told that I must go over and hunt for work in person, don't bother looking long distance. So I'm trying to save for a hub hunting expedition. Aiming for March 2011... but when would be the best time (Hiring time) for someone with 17 years in an oil refinery, Trade test (Industrial instrumentation and process control) but been working in the IT department (specialising in Incident reporting applications, intranet, IT Projects, Databases and EDI) for 13 years at after I passed my trade test?

That's not a bad time for job hunting. The job market here shuts down over December and January, so if you aim to be here in March, it should have started to pick up by then. As a word of advice - avoid the recruitment agencies if you can and instead focus on the companies that are advertising directly. Agencies are find if you're here and can start immediately, but if not, then you're a 'difficult' placement, even if you're the best person for the job. If you haven't worked in your trade for 13 years, it's probably not going to be relevant experience, so you might want to concentrate on the roles that are aligned with your work experience.

Good luck!
