Liesl24
Hi to everyone in the forum! Glad to be here and looking forward to chatting with you all.I am 31 and married to Paul (34). At the moment we have no kids (but we consider our 2 jack russells to be our "babies"), but would like to start a family asap. We have been talking about immigrating to Oz for a while now, and now with the prospects of starting a family, would like to make the move in about 2-3 years depending on how things work out.We are applying for a skilled independent visa (136) since I am a chemical engineer. Initially we wanted to use Network Migration as an agent, but after reading a couple of posts on this site, decided to do it alone and hopefully save R20k in service fees! So already this site has proved to be extremely useful!RegardsLiesl

Regarding your career in Australia, you should contact Prof. Jannie van Deventer at Uni of Melbourne, he's originally from Stellenbosch and left just before I started my studies there. www.chemeng.unimelb.edu.au/people/staff/vandeventer.html Quite an impressive guy, he's got 3 doctorate degrees, 2 in engineering an 1 in business economics! Maybe he would be a good contact, I dunno, but you never know...I went into finance straight after my studies, but I know chemical engineers do very well in Australia.CheersCharl
The Parsons Family
HiWelcome to the forum. We feel the same way about our two babies (a jack russell and a jack russell cross spaniel), they will be arriving in Perth in a month. We went with Network Migration and in the beginning we had many issues as they were not communicating with us, now they are completing our 136 and everything seems to be going well. We are just waiting for my skills assessment.Good luck with all the paperwork.CheersGaille
Liesl24
Hi Charl,Nice to meet you! I studied at Pretoria, but know quite a few people who graduated from Stellenbosch around 1996-1997. I have actually just completed my MBA, so looking towards movinginto a business environment, rather than just 100% technical. But this is going to be a long process and I'll see where I end up eventually. Thanks for the contact though! I need all the contacts I can get!CheersLiesl
Liesl24
Hi GailleGreat to hear from you. Yes, about the dogs... I was in a state of depression yesterday to find out that they have to spend 7 months in quarantene. How did you guys handle it? I think that is probably the one step in the process that I dread the most...!CiaoLiesl
The Parsons Family
HiIt wasn't fun leaving them at Keringa but it had to be done. They can spend as long as 6 months in quarantine in SA because they have to spend 1 month in Australia. We chose to split it 50/50, so they will complete 105 days in SA and 105 in Oz. The people at Keringa are really good to them, my babies love the guys who look after them, we've asked family members to visit them once a month. I can't wait to take them for long walks on the beach. Cheers Gaille
m&sdeklerk
Hi LieslWe are also making use of Network Migration has already paid the fees (1 year ago). Only started the process about 2 weeks ago by handing in all our first required paperwork. I really get worried if I read that people has decided against using the??? Could you give me a hint?Sincerely Salome
Liesl24
Hi Salome,Since you have already paid the fees, I don't know how easy it will be cancel their services and ask for a refund. You will most probably lose a large deposit, but you can find out. What I do suggest is that you have a look at the documentation and process required for the visa (look through the websites and info provided on this website) - so that you are always "one step ahead" of Network Migration and can effectively "push" them (get the documents ready in advance etc). But ultimately you have paid a lot for a service that they need to provide, so demand it, even if you do so kicking and screaming. Don't just wait fot them to get back to you, you must follow up and drive the process.Maybe someone else on this forum has better advice?Liesl
Sheila2oz
Hi All.We are also making use of Network Migration, did not know about this forum, If i knew about this forum we most probably have done the process ourselves. But so far so good. Our application for PR 136 was lodged on 20 September 2006. I have received a letter from Networking stating that we will only have an co in April, and that is the same as their timelimits. 7 months. I think just follow up with them, any queries to them, mail them or phone them, you pay lots of monies for the service, so they must produce. Just remember it is lots of paper work and they can not do it for you, they just guide you. Regardssheila2oz
Allie en Urs
Hi Liesl'24. Ek weet waarvan jy praat my diere is ons lewe. Het met mense gepraat wat hul diere daar gelos het en hul woorde was; ek verwyt myself of dit spook elke dag by my oor my honde en ek is siek gewonder oor hul elke dag of hul ok is of wat. Daar word so mooi na hul gekyk. Ursula
Liesl24
Dankie weer eens!Liesl
Guest Die Carelsen's
Jammer as ek nou off topic is, maar ek sit met dieselfde dilemma met my kinders. My enigste probleem is ek het klaar besluit hulle gaan saam.

My tweetjies is al by die huis van einde Oktober 2006.Keringa (SA kwarentyn stasie) in Joburg is is regtig excellent!!! Dit was vir my regtig moeilik die kwarentyn ding.
Jean
Initially we wanted to use Network Migration as an agent, but after reading a couple of posts on this site, decided to do it alone and hopefully save R20k in service fees! So already this site has proved to be extremely useful!Hi Liesel. I think with that choice you saved 20k AND an lot of heartache. I have a close friend who got pretty much swindled out of his 20k by them. They "forgot" to mention to him that he did not qualify on points, and wasted a year of his time. There seem to a be a whole lot of dishonest or lazy migration agents out there. A pity, they are ruining things for a lot of people.
