conroys
Hi,Would it be possible to go for medicals and police clearance just before your case officer is assigned? As I understand it can take some time to get an appointment for medicals. The idea is to safe some processing time by supplying up to date police clearance and medicals when the case officer starts looking at your file. Any experiences or ideas?ThanksConroys
rsteyn
Hi ConroysYes you can but you risk shorting you Initial Entry Date period (date by which you have to validate your visa in OZ).Medicals take about 4-6 weeks to process at LCU in Sydney. Police Clearences take about 30 Days to get in SA. So you should do the medicals and request the Police Clearance at the same time, this way they will process the medicals and police clearances at the same time.Hope that helps Cheers Rudi
Norm
...As I understand it can take some time to get an appointment for medicals...Hi guysWe did our medicals a couple of weeks ago (Dr Hugh Cobb in Rosebank)... didn't have to wait for long at all - couple of days at the most. The Police Clearances are taking a bit longer lately (6 - 8 weeks!! - maybe 'cos it's Christmas), which should be enough time to do your medicals in.Norm
Sam
Yes, it is called frontloading. Run a search using the word 'frondload' on http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=32 and you'll find lots of info about it.Sam
conroys
Thanks for all your replies.Initial Entry date should not be a problem since we intend to go over within a month after getting the visa. Thanks Sam, the thread on britishexpats confirmed our decision to 'frontload' a month or so before we expect to be assigned to a case officer.Further 2 questions:1. Does anyone know of doctors that can do the medicals in Centurion or Pretoria?2. What tests needs to be performed for 136? Can I ask the doctor for the 'standard 136 set of tests' or does it differ from applicant to applicant?
Sam
You're welcome. Dr. Lingenvelder in Hatfield, PTA is a well recommended, DIMIA approved, medical practitioner. See this thread.Regards, Sam
